I bought the dsi first day and am extremely happy with it. I never could have waited an extra year for this. And I have trouble fitting the dsi in my pocket as it is.

I may buy one. The one thing that bothered me most about the DS was screen size.
I'm still playing with the DS Lite, despite a DSi in my possession.
Anyway I'm not buying another DS until GDC to possibly reveal if a successor truly is around the corner.

That's why I don't understand: if DSi XL is yet to come to Europe and the Americas, why announce a new handheld? I think it's most likely a new version of the Wii (not necessarily a successor).
I don't think it offers enough to warrant being around double price of a DSL so I'm just going to stick with my trusty DSL.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
Well, My DSi is working perfectly fine, and my eyesight is fine, and my hands aren't suddenly growing, so I'll be okay.
I'm waiting just a few more months till E3 to know if a new DS model is coming.
If it comes I'll wait to see.
If not I'll get myself a DSi XL because I'm an indoor portable gamer.
unless your big foot, I don't think you need a DSi XL its really a bad deal, its not a good portable device, and your paying WAY more for something three times the size..
If anyone wants a ds, get a DSi.. its portable, and offers the same features that the DSIXL does.

What I find astonishing is that DSi XL is the same price as a Wii in Japan!
I'm probably not getting it right away, but I'm interested for the larger displays and the shiny design. I only have a DS Lite so that would be an upgrade for me.
To those complaining it was too quick an upgrade, if you bought the DSi I'm not really sure it's an upgrade. It's a size variation, kind of like the color variations. You can always trade in your current model, which isn't that old and get a good discount.
Otherwise you need to stop complaining because frankly you don't need to buy it, and a whole year for a handheld device is not a short time at all, you're overreacting on that one.
