Forums - Gaming Discussion - Traded in 10 copies of Mass Effect 2 in one trade

One trade at EB Games: Traded in 10 copies of ME2 for $935 store credit. $93.50 for every copy. $85 +10% with Edge card on every game.
Excuse: "I already own the game I had it bought for me 11 times by friends and family for my birthday. Yeah they made a mistake 11 copies of teh same game. Doh!!!"

Truth I trade baited my way at JBHi-Fi with 30 cheap games and got 10 copies of ME2 for free. I have never even played ME2.

Such a great feeling. New games coming in 2010 more trade credits are coming my way. What to spend the credits on? New Premium console bundles and all the games I want to play.

**Sorry for the confusion this was done in Australia at EB Games.

Wait - why did they pay that much for every copy?

are we speaking US currency here.  They give you like $25 for new games hah

it wasn't done in the US. This is most commonly possible in Canada, the UK, and maybe a few other countries where stores actually let you trade 2-3 $10-15 games for a $60 game

Even so, I doubt he made all too much money unless they were his own games he was never going to play again. For example in the US, let's assume every game he had was going for $10 used (not a uncommon minimum for a decent non-sports game. We'll also assume that he got top dollar, so $40, for his ME2 trade in + 10%. However, most trade in is closer to $34

$10 * 30 * 1.08 (tax for purchasing) = $324

$40 * 1.1 * 10 = 440

top dollar trade in total earned = $116

$34 * 1.1 * 10 = $374

more realistic trade in total earned = $50

Not bad earnings though if you can find a store cleark who won't balk at 10 copies of the same game. Personally I'd refuse them under the assumption they were stolen goods.

EDIT: oops, I thought it was 11 copies, had to correct my math.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

The retail price for new games in my country(Australia) are $100. This price is around $80 US.

I bought the 30 games from JB Hi-Fi a discount chain store. I traded in 30 games which cost on average $15 each. I traded in 30 copies of three different games. 10 copies of the same game. 10 separate trades to get the 10 free copies of Mass effect 2. Each set of three would have three different games. The game store has exclusion lists. I buy the cheapest and crappest games not on exclusion list and trade them back in and get the free game. Total cost of the 30 games was $450

All up I made $485 in profit. Trade store credit when I traded in the 10 copies of Mass effect 2 in one trade at one EB Game store. I got $935 in store credits.
