lol the only games that win goty are shooters and rpg's....or some combination of the two...

GOW is best compared with an action movies. No matter how good the action movie is... the year has to be very weak for it to get consideration.

Other genres tend to have a leg up in comparisons across genres with reviewers. The story won't help either. GOW stories are serviceable and great for what they are... but in the same way the Story of Die Hard is serviceable to draw a comparison back to action movies.

 

Back in 2007, a last gen game God Of War II was competing against the giants like Halo 3, COD4, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted 1, Mass Effect and tons of other blockbusters and it STILL won lots of awards. Pretty amazing, isn't it

That is EXTREMELY surprising... and pretty underseved IMO.

I don't get this, your're asking people to say whether it will win GOTY awards when the game isn't even out?

Anyone care to remember RE5? The followup to one of the best games of last gen. It didn't even get a sniff at GOTY for 2009. Not saying the same thing WILL happen to GoW3 but it's a little pre-emptive talking about GOTY.

Ask me again when the game's been out for a week and I've sunk my teeth into it. Until then you're only going to get wishful thinking on behalf of ps3/GoW fans.

Yeah, but you expect a bit more than that when asking for an explanation of the game... Now, what I don't understand is that people say it's more than graphics: it's the gameplay and story, but if it's that, why God of War Collection received such high scores? I mean, isn't it just remasterization, or something else, if I'm missing it? I can understand why Metroid Prime Trilogy received the same amount of score at Metacritic (although I'm not a fan of the series), but I can't for this collection...

God of War games have such high production values thats why the collection got such awesome reviews...and the gameplay is fun, puzzles are awesome...there is a lot of variety in enemies and the scale of the series is huge...\

and having the best storytelling since MGS help too..

If somebody "could care less", it means that they already care to some extent.

It probably will, but I did not like the demo at all. It just felt like a button mashing party, there never was a part that I was going "Wow" at.
