JKFM don't you do it
Don't you start this
The assumption that WRPG cannot tell a good story is flawed. There are plenty of WRPG's that tell a great story. But yes lets not make is an RPG bitch fight. Because it never ends well.
Everyone I know is really pumped for it. Maybe many of the people complaining have been playing a lot of WRGPS recently and didn't know what to expect? Besides the Japenese offshoot of the genre hasn't exactly been the critics favorite lately.
But don't worry, it only mattters if you like it.

Forget it, man. It has already begun. Nothing can stop them now.

JRPG's are action/adventure games there is absolutely no "role-playing" in them.....while all wrpg's are about is "role-playing".
JRPG's are only RPGs in name , nothing more.

It is true, but those that make Heavy Rain a WRPG? If we are going by name here, a lot of games that have no-level up systems would fall into the WRPG category. I know I prefer action/adventure games with a leveling system than shooting games, I mean WRPG games.

HR is as true of an rpg as you can get........its a choose your path adventure, you play a characters role and you somewhat choose how that character will progress in the story.
Not all wrpg use shooting as a means of fighting but even if they do at least you can replay the game differently and get a different experience.....unlike JRPG's where linearity is bliss.

agreed I would rather play a linear game with a awesome story and and engaging and exiting characters then play a open world game without a story.
