Forums - Gaming Discussion - Metacritic: mass effect 2 (xbox 360) vs mass effect 2 (pc)

I just looked at the metacritic scores for the xbox 360 and pc versions of mass effect 2. To my suprise, the pc version scores a 94 vs a 96 for the xbox 360 version.

I don't get this. You have two identical versions of the same game, and yet one version scores higher than the other. Can someone explain?

They are not identical. The PC version has better graphics :)

For a metascore difference that small it doesn't really matter. It is just different sites reviewing each version. I am fairly certain that every site which reviewed both games would have given them both the same score

And yet its inferior counterpart scores higher.

PC gamers have higher standards.  :P

PC specific reviewers are harsher (in a good way) than console reviewers.

PC games nearly always have lower Metascores than their console counterparts, make of that what you will.

This.

PC gaming reviews have a much higher standard. Gameplay/Graphics and Sound are all the same but than they look further than. Are controls suitable for PC? Is their keybinding (if it looks like it could be used)? Modding? Dedicated Servers?

Shit like glitches, bugs and framerate issues aren't taken as lighly for PC games even if it something small or doesn't hinder the gameplay. The graphics they also look how far you can go on max setting if it is impressive or dissapointing.

PC games usually have better graphics, better controls, better online, modding, and overall customizability, but still get lower scores than console games because their reviewers are stricter. They don't give 10/10 scores to every other game that does exactly the same thing.

As been said by others, pc reviewers are harsher/have higher standards.
