I just had a thought. If game informer was to review this game without "final fantasy" in mind, would they have given the game a lower score because of its linear gameplay?

No because they gave the most LINEAR FF before FF13 a 9.75 i.e. FF10

FF12 which was much more open got a 9.25....same as FFXIII has got

so please stop the conspiracy theories.

_____________

YES!!!

AMAZING SCORE....looks like FFXIII will live up to its predecessors golden standards!

and guys FF12 got a 9.25 from GI, not 9.75.

Best believe!!!

Where are yo darth? It's time to celebrate!

Sorry I have been absolutely re-addicted to FF8

I have played around 20 hours in the last 2 days

so 20 hours out of the 48 hours in the last 2 days have been in FF8 LOL!

EDIT: oops double post, well it had a 3 minute gap & I expected there to be atleast a few more posts in that time :(

Great score, but this was pretty much predictable since most people who actually have the game have been saying wonders about it, so the reception it was going to get could only be amongst the best possible.

Where are all those who said that FFXIII would be bad and that the series is dead and all that yadda yadda? It's easy to complain, but it's hard to man up and admit that you were wrong to do the early bashing that you did right? :P

Just a little more than one month now! :D

@ lestatdark

Not everybody now. I know people who have actually played FFXIII and don't like it. Final Fantasy XIII will be like every other Final Fantasy before it since Final Fantasy 7, a game that alot of people will love but a alot of people will hate as well.

@g-value

That's why I said most ;)

All FF's suffer from that fate, but what happened over here after the game launched in japan was nothing short of ridiculous. Almost everyone was bashing it and didn't even care to look that the same points they were bashing on the game, were also present on past FF's.

Just ask Darth how many threads were created to bash FFXIII in late December/early January.

I want other reviews. Game Informer tend to review rather poorly. Almost always reviewing on hype or name.

They would actually have given it a higher score, because it wouldn't be judged as harshly, with no legacy to live up to....much more likely scenerio.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

sweet score!

@ lestatdark

Not really. Alot of people were fans of the FF series with one of the main reasons why being for it's exploration. FFXIII doesn't give them that until chapter 10 (and the game consist of 13 chapters as a whole). There is very little towns in FFXIII as well. Also, from what I understand, FFXIII delivers a very shounan manga-like story with very shounan manga-like characters. Those type of storylines and characters will turn off many older FF fans most of the time. Lastly, everybody hates Hope and Snow. I barely know anybody that likes them. I feel those are legit reasons to not like FFXIII if you ask me. I personally don't have a problem with any of these things though.....well.....except for Snow being really annoy by saying he is a hero all the time and always failing to be that. I also hear that Lightning always beats his ass. This is a huge disappointment for me since I was expecting Snow to be a really manly character. I never would have image that he would end up being a little boy in a grown man's body (and also Lightning's bit*h).

Nice score, however i thought reviews didn't matter? atleast thats what i heard alot back in the wkc is dom'd threads.

Still, i do wonder what the score would have been if everything was the same but ...
