Will the PS3 be able to outsell the Wii in Japan any week this year?

Yes, in more weeks than last year. 706 54.43%

Yes, same amount of weeks than last year. 76 5.86%

Yes, but less weeks than last year. 161 12.41%

Yes, only once. 29 2.24%

No, lol? 137 10.56%

I like turtles. 188 14.49%

Total:1,297

Am I the only one that expects that considering the nice Wii SW launches and the huge PS3 HW ones, both could be adjusted up?

Actually laughed at this.

Got to love 3rd parties <3

I'd take Rune Factory off the PS3 100k list (only the first two DS games ever managed that, RF3 and Frontier were both under 100k) and I'd also take out Shadows of the Damned (especially after Vanquish bombed hard), but generally I agree.  Never has such a successful platform been supported so badly by the JP industry.

On the other hand, those games that'll sell over 100k on Wii and PS3 cumulatively will probably sell within the same amount of units overall thanks to DQX.

It's all about scale.  If you do over 200k, then the lists become...

PS3:

  • Ninokuni: Queen of the White Ash (Level 5)
  • Final Fantasy Versus XIII (Square-Enix)
  • Metal Gear Solid: Rising (Konami)
  • Yakuza: Of the End (Sega)
  • Shin Sangoku Musou 6 (Tecmo-Koei)

  • Inazuma Eleven Strikers (Level 5)
  • Taiko Drum Master 3 Wii (Namco-Bandai)
...over 400k and....

PS3:

  • Ninokuni: Queen of the White Ash (Level 5)

More importantly...

jarrod.

You think Ninokuni can sell over 800k on PS3?

Totally.  I think a PS3 version will nerf DS sales with the hardcore too, and I think both versions should do 800k plus.  It's Ghibli.

Can we put a question mark ahead of DQX releasing for the Wii? I mean, it got announced nearly two years ago and, well, we're still waiting for the concept art.

It's been said to be releasing for Wii recently.

Although I personally wouldn't be surprised if it was now a 3DS game.

I think we could if Horii hadn't just reconfirmed the game for Wii specifically a month ago.  People were also saying the same thing earlier this year, and then all of a sudden DQMBRV came outta nowhere and released a whopping 3 months after it's reveal.
