I'd rather wait for a 3-D DK until a time when Nintendo has the hardware to do justice to DK's jungle environment.
Would you like to see a new full-fledged Donkey Kong game? | |||

I'd love to see a 2D Donkey Kong Country 4! If they do another 3D one hopefully it's nothing like Donkey Kong 64, ugh.

That's why I talked about Kirby, F-Zero and Pikmin. I never mentioned Starfox, as I'm sure that'd sell well too. And personally, yes, I'd LOVE a new Starfox, and one like the N64 one at that. And I'm 100% sure it would sell very, very well. Still, I'm pretty convinced a 3D DK game by the Mario Galaxy team, with proper resources, development time and marketing, would sell like extremely well. Donkey Kong is simply a much bigger IP, and appeals to a broader audience. Look at the number of DK games (even excluding the spinoffs). Now look at the Starfox ones. Yeah. |
I saw Kirby, F-Zero or Pikmin and I read Starfox... that's weird! I guess I just want Starfox so badly, I'm starting to hallucinate.
By the by, I was looking up sales for franchises and saw that F-zero GX sold only 0.12 million! That's scandalous isn't it? If I'm not mistaken that game was the first collaboration between Nintendo and Sega and it was a pretty awesome game to boot with a great critical reception. What went wrong? Do we just put it down to low Gamecube market share? It's a tragedy really. I loved F-zero GX.

I never played DK64, so I really can't comment on that. Now Donkey Kong Country 1-3 on the other hand got tons of play time on my SNES, so yes please! Those are the first games I can remember actually trying to complete 100%.

Haha, nevermind.
Yeah when I made that post I had just looked up some of those sales numbers as well... 120k WW sounds awfully low for the game, even with the 'Cube low installed base... Makes me wonder if perhaps those sales are incomplete, a lot of the numbers from past gens are, you know. On Wikipedia it says
"In Japan, F-Zero GX sold 100,981 units and became qualified for the Player's Choice line in both Europe and North America by selling at least 250,000 copies."
... So that would mean the game's sold much, much better than 120k.
But I agree, the game was pretty darn awesome, it looked stunning, it was ultra fast and the gameplay was really smooth. Plus, it was extremely well-rounded and feature-packed, with its story mode and missions, character profiles and CGI movies and such. Sega had really poured their heart and soul into it, as far as I could see. I still love it and would very much welcome a Wii version.

I would absolutely love it. Especially considering what a big deal Donkey Kong used to be. Did you know that the first Donkey Kong Country has sold more than any Zelda-game ever has?
Launch title for Wii 2.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
