@ ajescent..I can play by myself just fine...me,me2,u2...etc But when ubi TAKES OUT spys vs mercs and adds some other stupid multiplayer modes that people dont want, I am not going to support there lazyness. Whats wrong with the "world today" is that people will buy a game just cause of its previous success, not on the current title. Have you noticed how many developers are delievering less content and still charging 60 bucks for it.

If they "added some other stupid multiplayer mode" I'm gonna guess two things

#1 they aren't short changing you in terms of quantity, you're still getting the same bangs.
#2 By the sounds of things, you don't actually know what the(se) new mode(s) have to offer, so instead of dismissing them outright, maybe you should look into them first, keep an open mind.

Lastly, I'm not a fan of stealth games but surely, the #1 appeal should be the single player with MP as an after thought? If you were complaining about them taking out single player or something key from it then I would understand but right now...I'm not getting it.

I know the multiplayer modes...they have coop, and spy vs spy with AI. There is no true versus in the game. Look on there forums alot of players feel the same way I do. Its like if the next lfd has no versus, people would be pissed. SvM has been part of the sc series since the 2nd installment.

Well, see...I raise an eyebrow with your L4D comparison. I admit I lack a 360 so I've never played L4D but I assume like MW2 single player is not why people buy/bought it, whereas the same can not be said about Splinter Cell games.

I admit, I'm biased against adding multiplayer in games that's obviously a single player affair but the way I see it, this is a game about Sam Fischer, not Sam Fischer and chums. I was against it when Naughty Dog added mp to Uncharted 2 but I admit I actually enjoy it.

But if they then announce in Uncharted 3 they won't have multiplayer for whatever reason, I don't think that's a good enough reason to boycott the game.

I guess it's just me refusing to believe your sole reason for looking forward to Splinter Cell predominantly a single player affair was the multi-player, because boycotting it suggests this to be the case.

my memories of all the sc's start with the sp, so kind of a poor comparison

all my memories of sp are playing warehouse, and mount hospital but i guess i am going to have to deal with it

Spy vs Mercs isn't a gimmick, it was a very original online experience that has been associated with Splinter Cell for a while now. I'll still play the game because I enjoy the series, but it still sucks. Some of you are acting like fans of the series are asking for tacked on multiplayer in a game that's never had it, which is not the situation. I don't see how SC not having Spy vs Merc could be seen as anything but a negative. This isn't to say the game won't be great or worth the money, its just a shame people are gonna miss out on a awesome multiplayer experience.

never played that mode, so I'm sure I won't miss it.

I just need an epic singleplayer experience. The co-op mode makes it to an instant buy.

I was pretty pissed after I read the latest GameInformer issue on the game. But hey, the co-op and all new co-op modes still make this a definite buy.
