I'm pretty much strictly an IE person on my machines. I've tried Opera in the past, and I didn't really care for it. (It felt clunkier than IE, and how it manages favorites is not appealing to me.) Chrome I'm staying away from due to Google's privacy issues that have been cropping up. Safari is my browser of choice on a Mac, but I don't own one, nor do I prefer it to IE. So that leaves me with no other choice.

Oh, yeah, there's that crap called Firefox. I will never use that program, ever. First of all, I do not like having to install plugin after plugin to make it work how I want it to. Each plugin will just take up more and more resources. Couple this with the memory leak present in it, and it would require me to restart my computer more often than I do with IE. And it has some of the most arrogant users I have ever seen. It is those users that have made me swear off it entirely. They try to say that because I use IE, that I'm the problem with the internet. Sorry, but no. MS has been going more standards-compliant since IE6 for the web developers, but my using it isn't why MS has their own set of codes. If those users think that the only way to get someone to switch is to whine about how broken IE is, and how it's this huge problem, then no, I will never switch. I do not experience the problems that they claim exist; trying to say that they are a universal problem doesn't make matters better either. (Sure, some people have some of the problems, but it's not everyone.)

So yeah, I use IE. It works for me, and it lets me customize just those few things I need to. And, through smart browsing, I've never had a virus on my computer. (Yes, I do scan on a weekly basis.) So, from my perspective, I use the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I don't see that IE is broke, so don't try to tell me that it is. Your words then will only fall onto unreceptive ears (or eyes on the internet).

One word to those comments: LMAO!

You are in the minority with your views, and it isn't exactly brain science to know you should have ALL plugins up to date, firefox uses the SAME plugins as Internet Explorer so when your moaning about firefox plugins your also moaning about Internet Explorers and all other browsers plugins too lol, flash, shockwave, java, quicktime, adobe reader are all needed to get the best web experiance no matter what browser you use.

And memory leaks in firefox never requires you to restart your pc, just ctrl+alt+delete and close firefox.exe, not exactly hard, and besides, memory leaks shouldn't happen in the latest version firefox unless your using rubbish addons or your profile is corrupt (which can also happen to internet explorer)

And your still using IE6, the worst browser ever made, wow, IE7 and IE8 knock spots off IE6 hence why Microsoft are stopping support for IE6 this year lol.

Well, you're kinda proving some of my point there, by finding humor in a personal preference...

*sighs* Believe me when I say that I'm not happy about having those that you mention. In fact, the problem I have when I browse I've actually traced to shockwave, which, unfortunately, I can't find an alternative for. (I have replaced reader; it's not as sleek as Adobe's, but it's a lot less of a resource hog.) However, those aren't the plugins that are touted for FF. I'm referencing things like Adblock, Noscript, etc. I don't need those. However, I have to pay that overhead in resources for simply having the customization option. I don't want to pay said overhead.

Regarding the memory leaks, that's a bigger problem than I have with IE. If IE starts to leak, I can close the offending window/tab, and get my memory back- even without losing other pages I'm browsing. If I have to crash FF entirely, then I lose that. As for my profile corrupting, well, my upstairs computer has had no problem with an IE profile after... what's it been now, 5 years? And that's through 2 major IE updates.

And if I said that my first browser was IE3, does that mean I'm still using IE3? No, I merely pointed out a starting spot for something. (In this case, standards compliance.) I'm using IE8 at present, and will upgrade to IE9 upon its release. Given the difference between 6 and 7, though, I can't say that I'm surprised at MS dropping support for it.

I started with IE like any other fool.

I switched to Firefox almost immediately after it was released. It was faster than IE, more secure, and it had some great extensions (now add-ons). Using custom scripts was the best.

I switched to Opera two years ago because of memory leaks with Firefox, and because in order for Firefox to be worth it, you really do have to download a bunch of add-ons, which hog all of your PC's resources. I didn't have any of those problems with Opera, even after transferring all of my adblock filters.

Opera was faster, but it did come with trade-offs. Many of my favorite websites didn't work with Opera, which was frustrating, but I chose to support Opera rather than shoddy website design. Opera also had features that made it even more appealing to me, I now use Opera's built-in e-mail client to use gmail, and sometimes I use Opera's built-in bittorrent client instead of utorrent. After Opera 10 released, I no longer had any problems with certain websites, and as such, I only use Firefox when I need to stream video that requires the Move Media Player add-on (FOX, ESPN360, etc).

I really wish more people used Opera now because of Opera Unite. Only my parents use it right now, but it's still nice to be able to share pictures with them through Opera Unite.

IE & FF

Thanks to smartphones growth, the vast majority of which aren't MS based, IE will cease to be the most used browser in a little time. When this happens, the more and more uncommon sites still "best viewed with IE" will follow the dinosaurs' way. And MS can't do anything about this, it can only thank God that its former arch-rival FF is more used than its current arch-enemy's creature, Chrome.
