lol legend of dragoon , my faivorite gaming magazine gave it a 6/10. and i said "what the hell, im going to buy it anyway" great choice

Lost Odyssey was great. I just beat Magna Carta 2 last night and (I don't recommend it to anybody) I enjoyed it a lot!

RPG's aren't the critical darlings that they once were. Still, good ones are out there. Blue Dragon is good. Infinite Undiscovery wasn't too shabby, either. When you're in the mood for an JRPG, there is no substitute. The genre hasn't evolved much, but when you pick one up and get engrossed in the storyline and scope, it doesn't matter what Metacritic or Gamerankings score it.

I blame FFXIII not because it is bad game (It's a great game) but because it took FFXIII long enough to be released and 2010 is very bright for JRPG consoles especially for the PS3. EoE/RoF, FFXIII, AT3, SO4, Last Rebellion, ToV maybe?, Atelier Rorona, VersusXIII and WKC 2 in Japan.

I do apologise if some of these are WRPG or SRPG, or even not an RPG at all. I can't know everything about all games. I just went to metacritic searched for RPG's on current gen consoles and picked the Japanese sounding ones.

So the answer, they're mostly on the DS

They started releasing them on a console where the audience did not exist, the XBOX360

For me, the greatest time for RPG's was with the SNES, and maybe PS1 a little. After that, I haven't really seen too many RPG's of my taste.

@jonnhytesta: I love your signature. Are those official art of Suikoden 2?

JRPG are my favorite genre, it's sad to see it's slowly dying(outside of japan) I remember back when I was in elementary school, all the kids talked about were RPG's, nowadays it nothin but shooters and sports games(not that they're bad games)

things change, maybe JRPG/RPG's will make a comeback like the PS1 days in the near future
though 2010 look sweet for RPG's!!!
