Thread Description: In this series of posts I will be highlighting an older game (64 bit era and before) that is highly revered, and looking at why it sold the way it did. In the original post there will be a couple of polls, one which asks what was the most important factor in determining the games total sales, and a second question asking why it is that game is still remembered and talked about today. I'm calling these "…of the Day" threads, but even if it is not the same day feel free to continue to comment in the thread. With the thread description out the way here is today's Retro Game Sales Analysis of the Day...
Game of the Day
9/14
Final Fantasy VII

Description: Final Fantasy VII released for the Playstation system 1997 and went on to sell 9.72 million copies. This is massive, especially for a genre that typically did not have huge success outside of Japan. So why is it that Final Fantasy VII sold so well, and why is it still so fondly remembered by gamers? Vote in the polls, then leave a comment and let us know what you think.
Yesterday was the debut of the “Retro Sales Game of the Day” threads and it didn’t spark much interest compared to my other threads. That’s why I picked Final Fantasy VII for today’s game, because I figure not many games will get as much interest. But if anyone has any suggestions besides the choice of game to feature, to increase the interest in this series of threads please let me know.
