Forums - Nintendo - Which of Nintendo's 3 Big 2009 Wii Titles will sell the most?

Update: This is about lifetime sales for the 3 titles releasing in 2009, not just sales in the year 2009.  Sorry about that.

I've seen lots of talk about how Nintendo's big upcoming (and recently released) games will improve hardware sells, but I haven't seen a lot of talk about what people think each game will do individually.  So out of Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which do think will have the highest total sales?

My opinion is that Wii Sports Resort will be the biggest of the three.  It is already off to a great start, and I think it will continue to be huge through the holidays.  Then it will be a steady seller for years, like other Wii evergreen titles.

My Predictions for total sales:

Wii Sports Resort - 20 m

New Super Mario Bros Wii- 14 m

Wii Fit Plus - 13 m

What do you think?

That's very hard to say, but I think I'll go with Wii Sports Resort.

Super Mario Bros Wii will sell through the roof for months and months, it will easily be the biggest game for the holiday season, a 2D mario on a console come on this game will sellout for months like Mario Kart

Eventually NSMBWii will sell the most, but it will take time. If we restrict things to 2009, then WSR has too much of a head start to do anything but win.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Oh, I must not have made it clear in my original post, but I do mean lifetime sales for each game. The 2009 part of title is just about the 3 games releasing then.

You make good topics, sir.

I'll have to say Wii Sports Resort.

wii sports resort, Depending on how popular m+ becomes.

Wii fit plus, wii fit is unstopable.

WSR just jumped back up 30% in japan this week. Its showing staying power already.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

NSMBWii has more core appeal and will sell faster on launch, it might be the best seller through the rest of the fiscal year (ends March 31, 2010), but Wii Sports Resort will probably be the best seller in the looooooooooong run.
