Sony's first-quarter fiscal results are in, and gamers may be surprised to know which hardware sold the most.
The Playstation 3 saw a decline in quarter sales, selling 1.1 million units, which was down from 1.6 last quarter.
The Playstation Portable also saw a decline, with 1.3 million units sold, down from 2.1.
But coming in on top this time around was the Playstation 2. Yes, the ten year old console still keeps chugging along for Sony.
The PS2 saw an increase in unit sales, selling 1.6 million, up from 1.4 the previous quarter. This is probably due in part by the price drop to $99 magical price point.
Software sales, however, were down all around.
The PS3 sold 14.8 million software titles, down from 18.9 the previous quarter. PSP sales dipped to 8.3 million, down from 11.2. And PS2 software sales came in at 8.5, down from 11.3.

I read on this thread ( http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=81383&page=1 ) that Xbox360 sold only 0.1million more than PS3 so that makes PS2 more successful them. Sure I know in that thread many state its just sold to retailers, but I just think its funny seeing these comparing numbers. Just wanna share. PS2 is still alive!! =)
