No, Batman is good now because they have the best new director in Hollywood, Christopher Nolan. Obviously Spielberg isn't up to the task, so I can't think of another director that could match the epicness.
Tarantino is an exception, but his next film is a remake of the Dirty Dozen, and I doubt he'd be interested in working on Spiderman, or any "marvel" character, as they are much more light hearted in general as you well know.
The guy who directed 300 is doing Watchmen, but trust me, he directed 300. The trailer will be the best thing ever, but the movie will dissapoint.
Good luck ever seeing a super hero movie as good as The Dark Knight, because your never gonna get the combo of cast, director, and character to match it.
I mean, comon, Spiderman and wolverine are cool and all, but wtf man. Batman is the freakin' dark avenger. He's one of the coolest characters in the history of literature, and virtually every great comic writer has made their best work about him. Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, of the top 10 best graphics novels ever written, probably 3 of them are about batman, and only one other super hero comic even makes that list, Watchmen, which is in production now(you saw it in the preview if you went in early enough to watch the previews).
300 was a really mediocre film. However, maybe we'll get lucky and be able to blame that suckyness on the fact that the graphic novel is pretty mediocre itself, and that dude will actually deliver this time.
Anyway, your best hope to surpass TDK is the next Batman movie. It is very unlikely that Marvel will ever make a movie as seriously good or as well directed as TDK. This is the comic book movie of your dreams. The first comic book movie, with a real, substinative story that overshadows the "action" parts. This movie isn't about CGI, it's about character development.
It's a real, good movie. Iron Man was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but it has been surpassed.
