Just wrapped up this one and retrospectively it's gotta be one of my top games of 2024, greatly exceeded my expectations.
They absolutely nail the "feel" of the 80s Indy films, from Troy Baker's performance to the music to the way the gameplay recaptures the classic mix of fisticuffs and archaeology. Puzzles are intuitive and logical rather than cryptic and annoying as I so often find them in such games, the first person melee combat (something that often doesn't work well in games) is up there with the Condemned titles in terms of actually feeling good, and it's all brought together with a level of polish and attention to detail that's head and shoulders above your average AAA release.
It's also impressive how effectively they manage to distinguish themselves from Uncharted, which was the obvious point of comparison for a modern Indy game. While it inevitably shares some DNA given how much Naughty Dog's series cribs from Indiana Jones in the first place, not once when playing did I feel like "oh this is just Uncharted" which is no small feat given their conceptual similarity.
It's not perfect; I get that they didn't want it to be played like an FPS but the fact that you can't carry a gun and torch at the same time or climb ladders/swing while carrying either felt a little janky, but when something this relatively minor is your biggest issue that's a good sign.
Plus, on Switch 2, it's an actual game card release, which is nice.
All in all excellent game, highly recommended.
