Been floating around according to a French retail source. Could be just that, a fake rumor, guess we'll see if it pans out.

The thought of the PS5 Pro costing $1000 US blows my mind......

I believe that wouldn't include the disk drive either, lol, that would be extra on top of that if you want it.

If this is true it would be actually insane, this price for a regular PS5 is mindblowing

I do not believe it, however; if this price increase comes to pass then gaming is over for a lot of people. I mean seriously, an entry console for 649 euros.

Regardless of the accuracy of this rumour I do expect a price increase like this to happen in early 2027 at the latest. Combine that with a Switch 2 price increase within the next year and console sales are gonna be in the toilet by Spring next year. At those prices the PS5 Pro would actually better be better value and if it does get that expensive you'd be looking at potentially a 1k PS6 if things don't improve so RAM prices better fall a lot by late 2027-2028.

In terms of the accuracy this guy apparently leaked the Xbox price increase last year so seems there's a real possibility this is legit. Anyone who hasn't gotten a PS5 Switch 2, or Xbox Series yet but knows they'll get one for sure at some point should get one immediately if they can afford it.

Nintendo is probably kicking themselves too for not getting the Switch 2 out maybe a year earlier in 2024, but COVID likely held them back on the software side there.

PS6 pricing is gonna be fun.

A lot of new RAM fabs are supposed to be coming online, from Micron and SK Hynix to Chinese ChangXin and Yangtze.
I would expect Sony delay PS6 if necessary to benefit from that.
Although question then is why not redesign PS6 around newer CPU/GPU if you will delay anyways.

This guy, granted a mixed track record, is claiming that not only is the rumor true, but it is supposed to be announced/applied by TOMORROW. At least in Spain, but I would have to imagine it would be across the EU.
