Just doing a pulse check is all. While I have no interest in permabanning troll accounts, I do believe there should perhaps be a greater moderating presence— there are many types of comments you find on this site that would never fly on any other online gaming forum IMO.

EDIT— Please do elaborate on your voting choice. More information is good in making our voices known to moderators.

Well,it's a site that tracks console sales.
So i suspect quit a phew fan(boys) are active here, and to be honest that is kinda to be expected.

I dont mind in that much if people keep it about gaming and not namecalling each other over a piece of plastic.

My youtube gaming page.

I do think there are whispers of a console war, for the first time in a long time. With Microsoft limping out of the console space and Sony and Nintendo increasingly competing for the same slice of the pie, I think it’s only natural. What’s more, I think it’s healthy. This community needs more activity, more controversy, more disagreement. We don’t need more trolls or flame bait, but we need honest, passionate debate. Maybe it will bring new users to the forum, or encourage lapsed users to return.

Neither. Website is quite tame, except for politics. More trolling and nonsense in the politics threads than gaming threads.

“Consoles are great… if you like paying extra for features PCs had in 2005.”

People are just having a bit of fun. Some 'tong in cheekiness' is no bad thing no? Don't take everything to serious.

Of course it does, all websites have hardcore fan bases. Whoever shapes their identities around a brand are morons. Obviously, there are way worse websites out there; wccftech, IGN, Gamespot, Macrumours are some of the worst.

Quick clarification: You think console warring is healthy? That’s what the preceding portion to the bolded text is telling me. Also, could you please provide some examples as to healthy debate in regards to those who engage in console warring? Just looking for extra info is all.

And if console warring is what brings more activity to this forum, then I will simply leave. I’d rather engage with a community of gamers; not people who place their self-worth in defending one brand and tarnishing another, i.e. those who are looking to create paper-thin video game discourse.

Personally, I think it is a very fine line.  Console wars are not fun, but neither is everybody just agreeing and nobody offering a difference of opinion.

Curl and I, imho, have drastically different views and thoughts..  but have regular great discussions.  He may or may not agree.

Console warring is irrelevant to creating an echo chamber— I’m not saying that everyone should agree on everything, nor that we need constant positivity, but that disingenuous discourse which solely serves to stoke tension and nothing more is problematic. For instance, the Road to 160mil thread which — while significantly improved — does suffer a lot from users not engaging in genuine discussion, but merely mudslinging.

I'm sorry; I'm confused by your question.

Yes, the section in bold suggests I think a console war can be healthy. But all the text after that provides the detail and context you're asking for. When there's more conflict and competition in the console space, there's livelier, more passionate debate, which is the lifeblood of a forum.
