Forums - General - Thousands flee homes here in Victoria Australia as bushfires sweep through state

https://www.9news.com.au/national/live-updates-victoria-fires-heatwaves-nsw-evacuations-warnings/b3dd925f-8fcf-45f9-bb78-be279eda0b24

With temperatures climbing to 46.5 degrees Celsius (115.7 Fahrenheit) today and strong winds creating perfect conditions for wildfires, much of the state is currently ablaze.

I'm safe where I am, but several people I know have had to evacuate; three people are currently missing and several properties have been destroyed.

Oh, goodness...

Please, stay safe, curl! I know you're an atheist, but I'll pray for your and your relatives' safety!

Thanks; I'm in the suburbs and there's nothing near to me so I'm all good, it's just hot as hell, (43c/109f here) but a cool change is coming through soon, which will also hopefully help bring the fires under control.

I do wonder if Pemalite is out there on the frontlines, being a firefighter.

Glad to hear you're Ok.

Some time ago, I'm not sure if last year or 2024, a fire broke into a forest next to my town. At that time I was working at a neighbour city, and when I was riding the bus at night on my way back to home, I saw a orange light at the horizon from the window. It was the fire.

That was the first time I saw something like that. Fortunately, there were no victims, but part of the forest were burned after that...
