Forums - Sony - Europe sticking to Black Friday prices until 2026

Santa is going to be handing out PS5 consoles left right and center in a few days!

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

This is amazing

But also makes me wonder if they are planning another price increase after Christmas...

Sony is subsidising these heavily.

I think they see an opportunity to stifle Nintendo Switch 2 growth.  Nintendo are having a slow start in the region and PS5 is on fire right now so there is a window of opportunity to very much cement PS5 as the dominant console in Europe.

Personally I hope Nintendo goes toe to toe with Sony, as when Sony and Nintendo go to war with each other it's customers who benefit the most.

Xbox hasn't been competition for Sony since the 360, and as much as I really like PlayStation, they are at their best when they have proper competition; and Nintendo is the one to keep Sony on their toes.

Dang, that’s $350USD for a PS5. You could get a Nintendo Switch for around that price. Currently $400(Digital)/$450(Physical) is about as good as it’s getting in US according to Deku Deals. Deals last through Christmas Day.

Curious how these aggressive discounts will impact sales figures next year though… hm. I feel like it’ll be hard to get consumers comfortable with the new MSRP again having been spoiled so hard during the holiday season.

It's strange, because here in France, prices have returned to normal. There are no more promotions, or perhaps our stores haven't been informed yet. This information is really odd.

Interesting, originally it said the deal was ending 18th December i'm pretty sure. So they've extended it?

PS Direct France is showing full price

PS Direct in the UK is showing full price and is out of stock on both slim models.

Smart smart smart.
PS5 is killing it. At this point, I expect Sony makes enough of them to surpass PS4.
PS4 could've sold 120 million units or more if Sony made enough of them.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Same in Switzerland (only some minor promotionsby some shops).

(Also hefty price increases for ssds).

In the UK, while PSDirect is back to normal prices and out of stock some retailers still have the promotion running. Argos, Curry's, Very etc. Amazon only has full price by third party sellers, shopto is out of stock.
