Americans, imo, have terrible tastes.

i7-13700k

Vengeance 32 gb

RTX 4090 Ventus 3x E OC

Switch OLED

Seems like a terrible hardware month. Seems the economic situation is impacting console sales in the US now?

Seems likely that Japan will be the biggest market for Switch 2 this holiday, which would normally be impossible.

These are some extremely poor numbers… for reference, PS5 alone sold 1.2mil in USA November 2024. For PS5+NS2+NEX+XBSXS+NS1 to total 1.4mil looks, by comparison, very concerning. NS2 will be significantly down from NS1 November 2017, and XBSXS must’ve been a complete disaster to fall short of the NEX overall.

The low November sales is probably due to the economic situation as well as some other factors; For PS5 its probably due to the fact that it has sold faster in the US than Europe previously, so less people left to upgrade, which contributed to lower November sales in the US than Europe. For Switch 2, it has probably gotten most early adopters on board and lacked appealing, exclusive games to promote the console to people outside the core Switch audience. For Xbox its the price which killed it long before black friday in the US.

Garbage numbers for everyone. The discount for ps5 in the US was too small this holiday, due to the price rise it was more expensive than 2024.

The reason PS5 didn't get the same boost in the US vs Europe is that PS5 previously sold much faster in the US, meaning fewer holdouts left to upgrade to PS5 in the US vs Europe.

No lol. This has nothing to do with the PS5 tapping out because of having a high install base. It's very far from that point.

PS4 with much higher install base will have had better sales than this in years past. It's a pricing issue.

It's everything to do with the EU getting a WAY bigger discount than the USA this year.

The discount for slim digital in the USA was 20%. The Discount in the UK was over 30%.

Prices are what it is, no console will be as cheap in the future as they were previously. Switch 2 will always be more expensive than Switch 1. PS6 will always be more expensive than PS5 in the future as well. In fact the rise of RAM prices means all these consoles will likely be more expensive next year than this year as well. So pricing is baked in reality, which is why console sales is naturally something that will decline in the future. It will be all about getting more money from the shrinking customer base, there is no growth to be had in the future for any console company.
