Forums - Nintendo - How likely we’ll have the educational Mario games on NSO?

You know what I’m talking about. Those Mario games that were not even published by Nintendo that were released on the NES and SNES during the 90s. I bring this up because recently Nintendo announced that they would push to bring Mario content to younger children including the app Hello, Mario! as well as other toys. Well, Wouldn’t releasing these games on NSO support their agenda? I don’t know what happened to the rights to these games once Software Toolworks went out of business, but it could likely have been the rights transferred back to Nintendo entirely.

No, I’m not saying that these are good games. I’ve seen the videos making fun of them. But with the announcement of the virtual boy coming to NSO, would it really be out of left field for them to make it available on the platform?

Around the Network

I think it's unlikely on the Switch as there are a massive number of full computers out there to "learn on".

There's probably a lot of scope for more intellectual games: point and clicks, puzzle, general knowledge/quiz games

I remember renting Mario's Time Machine, playing about 30 minutes of it and thinking what the heck is this and stopped playing it. I wouldn't mind giving it another chance all these years later.

Virtual Boy has proven that there are no (first-party) limitations on what Nintendo will add.

More or less. I would've never dreamed we would get Virtual Boy before Wii, so anything is possible.
