Ubisoft's been pumping out open world games for awhile, now. The thing is, that covers a number of franchises. Is Far Cry 6 able to differentiate itself from their open world formula in more than name alone?

I see Ubisoft games as the processed food of the gaming industry

Good enough for a packed lunch sandwich but not a main meal at a fancy restaurant

Why have packed lunch sandwiches when Subway exists?

Ubisoft games are always by the numbers, you know what you're getting into if you've played previous games in the series, you know if you'll like it before you play it.

Far Cry is always more Far Cry with a couple of little changes. I always enjoy Far Cry.

Because a pack of processed ham/turkey/chicken/whatever, a tub of butter and a loaf of bread will cost you £3 tops and last you the whole week, whereas you'd be paying more than that for one meal at Subway lol

Have any of you played Mario + Rabbids? Ubisoft is capable of greatness and uniqueness if they are feeling motivated.

Rayman Origins and Legends are better examples for the point you might be trying to make. But Ubisoft has multiple franchises pretty much committed to open world games and none of them have been great or unique for years.

Ewww... Subway's really gone downhill to me, and the one near where I live even closed down to literally no one's surprise (it was always dead, and yet it was on a corner with good visibility).  Maybe the three changes of hands of franchise owners and the terrible sandwiches were part of it, but Subway is probably WORSE than a packed sandwich at this point hahaha

I know, I genuinely do, but every now and then Ubisoft can surprise me/us, so I sometimes look for signs of it.  This game had signs of it, but it really didn't turn out to be that different, sadly...

I did, enjoyed it being an XCOM light, but it's hard to appreciate from having played through (and admittedly save scummed) XCOM 2.  BUT, I did buy the Mario+Rabbids DLC because I at least enjoyed it enough to do that!

It also helped it was/is one of the better looking games on the Switch, hehe

I went the opposite route. Never played that kind of game, then played M+R and absolutely loved it for the combat, the charm, the visuals that blew me away, and the humor. Then I tried Xcom and found it to be depressing with way too much death and too gruesome of deaths, plus I found the dialogue cheezy.
