The first XCOM is a bit rough, but XCOM 2 was really good.  I think the appeal, to me at least, was the futuristic stuff and the focus on analyzing and understanding the aliens.  I'm really into space and future stuff, so XCOM 2 hooked me there as well with the whole fighting aliens thing (I watched Independence Day maybe a dozen times hahaha!).  Of course, the actual combat is far deeper than M+R, and that was a bonus to me, too, since I could pull off some cool stuff not possible in M+R.  Again, though, it's not like I didn't like M+R lol

I only tried 2. In addition to those problems I said before, it occurs to me I couldn't even get far into the game because I was playing the Switch version which kept sputtering and being really slow. I was hoping I'd have a blast with it, though!

Ewww, yea, XCOM2 is SUPER CPU heavy, I wouldn't have tried that on the Switch at all lol... XCOM2 really was best played on PC where it was targeted, the console ports are literally all crappy in some way or another (I tried it on PS4 Pro, and it ran like ass, still lol).

I will mention that XCOM2's best moments are towards the midgame when you gain inertia and the aliens start pushing back.  Shit gets hairy and nerve-wracking, hence my becoming a save scummer hahaha
