I dont know, they wouldn't said remaster not simply update without reason, September is still far away.

My point is simple, there is no reason to blame Nintendo in this case, only SE is to blame, beacuse they are doing same thing all time, announcing game too early and then have too many delays.

Even though I usually blame SE too with their thing of announcing games way too early, I'm willing to bet Nintendo is the one to blame on this one. After all, at the time of the announcement they were just phasing out the WiiU and everything seemed bleak for the company, so announcing such a big title for the mysterious successor console was a great way to establish consumer confidence.

This was also SE announcment not Nintendo one, most of Nintendo Switch announcements were less than year announcements.

I think a more correct explanation is outdated hardware instead of outdated UE4

Outdated hardware!? You do realise that Switch hardware is more newer than PS4/XB1 hardware!?

I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo ask them to include the NX in the announcement. After all, companies were pretty tight lipped about the system, and SE just clearly announced one of their biggest games for the system with no problem. I bet Nintendo asked them to announce it, and SE just went "okay".

You know it deserves the GOTY.

With fact on mind that most of Switch announcements (including 3rd party) Nintendo is holding close to release, while on other hand SE always announcing game years in advance, chances are on SE side, also in same event they announced PS4 version of game also, not just NX version.

True, but Nintendo needed to get all the attention to the NX they could get, to make people see the system as a serious console competitor instead of just another WiiU. Getting SE to announce the title alongside the rest of the versions was a great way of getting the word out.

If they really wanted that they would have some other announcements also, 1st party and 3rd party, DQXI is only announcement like that. This seems like typical SE, announcing all versions for some game years in advance, including for console that still didn't had official name in that time.

There were other, better options for that.  And the Switch version was announced some time after E3 2016.  The game itself was announced in 2015.  There wasn't that much fanfare gained from the announcement honestly.  It was more of an, oh, that's a thing, just more fuel for the rumor mills surrounding NX.  And the announcement came so close to the reveal video of Switch if they wanted to just build hype they could have stuck it in there with some mock up footage.

No this is very much a Square-esque scenario, we've seen them pull this before.

Seriously, this should have been taken care of ages ago.  The UE4 Switch support updates went out over a YEAR AGO.  But here we have a plucky indie dev and their small time porting studio partner beating one of the wealthiest and most influential Japanese publishers to the punch with a game that gives the PS4 and Xbone a run for their money.

This is a display of frankly hilariously sad incompetence.

Well that game is at least published by epic who make ureal engine.

They shouldn't have said anything. No matter what they say, nintendo fans are gonna flip because they can't understand that an underpowered system is a problem to port to.
Nintendo is the only one to blame, imo. They made their choice, with all it's advantages and disavantages. That and people's expectations always running wild.

Yes, i know someone will flip at my comment too, because having an unbiased opinion is an offense. I'll say in advance, i will ignore such posts.

Temper your expectations, it's all i'm saying.

snipped for length

I am a realist, I know many games are a challenge, I know Switch versions take time.  I never would have requested Doom or Wolfenstein 2 at all and never would have complained of their absence.  And their presence doesn't have me up in arms demanding Battlefront 2 or Battlefield 1 or Witcher 3.  Cool as those would be, those are very challenging.  And I am not complaining at all about Wolfenstein 2's dev cycle cause I get it.

But DQXI?  No.  No, this is not acceptable.  Wouldn't be on the PS4 or Xbone or PC.  When you take all the elements into consideration, there is no excuse.  This is on Square.  And this is unacceptable.

Edit:  Sorry this is such a wall of text and I'm sure you weren't trying to pick a fight, but I've seen the attitude I described far too often and it bugs me to death.  And also, calling your opinion the unbiased one, implying those who disagree are biased and wrong by default came off as quite condescending and abrasive.

If i came across with a high and mighty tone, i apologise it wasn't my intention. I don't think i did, but everyone knows that if you post something critical about Nintendo here you get jumped by a pack of wolves.

You were thoughtful so i'm replying to say that i agree with you that squeenix should never have announced a switch version and should have brought the 3DS version. The switch version will probably still come, but they aren't willing to do the engine heavy lifting, wich is their legitimate choice. This statement is them trying to get pressure out.

But you know, theres a root problem on why such a modified version of the engine is required. So, it's just the reality of Nintendo's choices.

Guess they don't like my money....what else is new S-E

They are smart actually, they want people to double deep. Switch owner who has PC or PS4 will buy on PS4 or PC version if it's take too long and will buy again when the switch version release in the market.
