Why play a rerelease if you can play the original

Neither do I. I sure hope they did though since Crytek just left it unused for the entire time they had it! I'd love to see it change hands again since if it did the new owners might actually decide to get some use out of it.

I know the new Homefront has a TS2 easter egg.

Yeah that was a really cool touch. At one point I was playing Anaconda inside TimeSplitters 2 inside Homefront: Revolution

Crytek still holds the rights to it and they do not seem particularly interested in the franchise.
TimeSplitters Rewind is the best bet for a "new" TimeSplitters game going forward, which essentially is just a collection of the first three games multiplayer maps and modes and if possible the story campaigns as well.
That is if the damn thing ever comes out lol

The original studio behind TimeSplitters is still fairly intact, now known as Dambuster studios.
It likely doesn't consist of every member from the original Free Radical Design/Crytek UK team, but my understanding of it is that a lot of the developers went there

I wasn't super keen on the original Timesplitters on ps2. It was ok though but really loved Timesplitters 2. I still have an original xbox under my tv with a 2TB hdd and all my favourite classic games for the system plus emulators to N64/PS1 level. I have a quick blast on Timesplitters 2 occasionally. I don't think I play it because the gameplay stands up well to modern games I think I like it because it has a quirky style which is quite unique and nostalgia. It just feels different to play compared to many modern games.

The first one is actually my favourite.

An audience too small in a market too saturated, that is why.

Buy the IP and make a remaster for Switch, XBO, PS4 and PC. DO IT KAPI

Ok!

Can I borrow some money to do that though?

Sure.

Is 10 million pounds enough? Or do you need more?

I've no idea... how much does buying a semi-dead gaming IP cost? Can't say I have... well... any experience at all in dealing with that kind of thing

So you're telling me you're asking me for funding before you've contaced Crytek about the nature of a possible deal?

For shame Kapi. I thought you could handle this, but maybe I was wrong...

Well you approached me with the idea so...

Besides, isn't that how you do things? I would look pretty stupid if I was all like "yeah, I want to buy the TimeSplitters IP" to Crytek and they were like "oh yeah, we are totally interested in selling, how much are you offering" and I was like "well I have £5 in my wallet, is that enough?"

No no no, you don't understand Kapi. When you approach Crytek, you pretend like you have all the money you need, then bargain for the best possible price. I'll bankroll whatever price you end up at, don't worry.

Just tell me how much you need.

Because the original is on PS2. A console that's almost as infamous as the Xbox 360 for breaking down. All of my PS2s have broken so I'd need to buy a new one. There's also a finite number of PS2s in the world, once they've all broken then the originals will be completely unplayable. That's why we need a re-release on a modern platform!

Im not sure what you are doing with your consoles aside from one rrod all mines still live. Maybe bc most are nintendo .... but those from other lesser manufacturers with a little maintenance can be kept alive for eons aswell
