I watched Bethesda E3 just for dishonored, The Evil Within, Wolfenstein and Quake Champions announcement, I'm so glad they did.

Bethesda Game Studio is forgettable.

I dont know why people hated MS one..... The pacing was wonderful. Games after games. Unlike EA one though.......

Er, indie, indie and indie. No thanks.

Nothing wrong with indies. Looking forward to Hollow Knight, Steamworld Dig 2, Sonic Mania and Stardew Valley on Nintendo Switch myself.

Microsoft's indie games just weren't very interesting, but then again, neither were the AAA games they showed off.

I cannot believe I stayed up until 5am for that, it was truly awful, even the amazing wolfenstien trailer was dragged out and confusing. Poorly done and badly paced. I would say this was on par with EA's conference but from a different angle.

EA 4/10
Bethesda 4/10
MS 7/10

Id judge it something like:

EA 4/10

Bethesda 4.5/10  (quake championship, Wolfenstein 2)

MS 5/10  (2 new exclusive's announced, Ori 2 & Forza motorsports 7) (so many timed indie exclusives, and 3rd party multiplats)

It feels just like E3 2016, only difference is we know Nintendo will have more than one game to show off. Hopefully they or Sony can deliver the hype, because this is just said so far.

That Bethesda press conference..reminded me of a square soft press conference..Revisiting old games, pumping mobile crap games....Milking old success properties and straying from what made them good. OMG WHY DOES MONEY DO THIS TO PEOPLE.

I know I know...it take them a looong time for them to make a skyrim like game...but...come on Wolfenstein 2??!?! evil within 2?!?? SKYRIM CARD GAMES?>!! WHY GOD WHHHYYYY

So I guess that makes 3 bad conferences in a row.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

the next E3 they will announce the next ES or FO, and it will release 4 to 5 months later. It worked wonders with Fallout 4 that approach,

Steam tried paid mods and Bethesda was the first to jump in. Then Steam, after the awful reaction from its users, backed off and made mods free again (tho it still says it has plans to monetise mods). It seems like Bethesda loved the idea and wants to try it for themselves, plus they won't have to share the money with Valve.

It's an awful idea that I hope fails.

Why hope it fails?  If you don't want the professionally made stuff then just stick to user created content.

We'll see how professional those mods are.

We're talking about a company that, while allowed mods for consoles, they didn't bother to find a way to prevent PC mods to be used on the console versions resulting in negative side effects. And on top of that, there were a lot of cases of PC modders finding their work "stolen" by other users who published them for console users claiming to be their own work, and when problems arrived (because those mods where designed for a PC, not a console) they blamed the original author and tried to get rid of the problem with an "ask XXX (original creator) to fix it".

And what was Bethesda doing while this happened? The answer is nothing. They were probably already thinking about this payed mods system.

I have zero confidence in Bethesda.

How is it bad though? People underestimate the willingness of consumers to pay for quality content. I mean just look at Kickstarter or Patreon. I think paid mods are pretty great. Now they just have to find a way to do it right and most importantly convenient.

Maybe we need a unified platform rather than a system by a specific gaming company. An open marketplace for mods with a client that allows for easy modding.

As I said, I have zero confidence in Bethesda and what will this new business will mean for modders that don't want to take part on it.

Time will tell what happens but, given what we saw when Steam tried it, I'm not optimistic.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
