Game Informer has gone up with a five-minute video featuring Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, who discusses the game’s first chapter.

The gameplay featured in the video is from an early version of Final Fantasy XV, and does not represent the state of the final game.

On another news.

The latest issue of Game Informer has a 20-page feature story on Final Fantasy XV, and shares new information on the highly-anticipated Square Enix RPG

-  There are four quest types: for fun (fishing/chocobo racing), main story, monster hunts and regional quests. Currently there are over 200 quests in the game but the team are working to add more.

- There are dialogue choices in the game that leave to different outcomes. For example Noctis was able to ask his friends for advice rather than asking for a discount or loan from Cidney. The reward for these options seem to revolve around status bonuses similar to eating or resting.

Combat has improved since the demo – controls are more responsive, and weapons can be swapped on the fly using the d-pad. GI saw tabs for swords, daggers, lances, firearms, shields, royal arms and elemental spells. There was also a category called machines though their purpose is unknown.

When you call a summon they won’t always do the same thing. They are entities that exist in the world itself. So depending on the situation they will do different things...

No major spoilers in the video. But a sneak peak at the start of the story. Interesting info and side locations.

Just want to share these comparisons between shots from the Uncovered event and shots from the GI footage before people start complaining(and ignoring that really clear PRE-BETA text) about the graphics in that GI video.

Having a dynamic lightning means comparisons like these are mostly pointless. Since the time of the day makes a big difference.

This thread is not ment for graphics discussion though. I hope those discussions remain in the appropriate threads.

WE HAVE MONSTERS HUNTING!!! I love monster hunting :P

Yes but it seems that specific scenes are set at specific times of day. As seen in the airship scene. and the scene where Gladio is reading newspaper. Those are the same exact time of day. Also if you didn't notice in my comparison, the shot where NOctis is refilling the gas for the regalia in GI footage is significantly different in the Uncovered footage. :)

And while this thread isn't overall about the visuals, it is still worth noting as GI themselves informs people about the state of the game in their footage. Besides, info on visual improvements are info themselves.

Oh I like the sound of all those quests. I really like monster hunting though. I like fishing too especially if you get some decent gear from it. Sounds like it won't be a short game.

"When you call a summon they won’t always do the same thing. They are entities that exist in the world itself. So depending on the situation they will do different things. For example, Titan sometimes will run up and hit an enemy, sometimes he will throw boulders at the enemy and it’s possible he will even give up and leave the battle. They will also act differently in a dungeon than they will in the overworld."

Claustrophobic big ass summons confirmed!

Wasn't this in FFXII too? I didn't quite like it there because of the linearity and uniqueness of the combat, but FFXV is almost manually controlled so I guess it'll feel different and might be better, and good to see some fishing and chocobo racing(fun times) minigames again, also I like the sound of Summons having different actions, can't wait to see some sample of this .

Hunting quests in FF always mean more challenges. Some optional fights are usually much harder even from the final boss. It is meant for the core audience, that is why I'm excited.

And I agree. It is more suitable for action based combat where the battle happens in the big open world.

I can't wait to play this game. My hype level is through the roof. From what footage is this from? Consoles?.
