Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo NX - Indie Developer BPlus Games Gives a Little More Detail

I am sort of amazed that I do not see a thread about this yet. An Indie Developer called BPlus games shared a little more information about the Nintendo NX last night on Facebook, nothing too AHA! But still, we at least know that there are games being developed for it one way or another.

We never got official confirmation from Nintendo, but I remember something I think back in October about how there were dev kits making their way around, and I'm thinking this may be official - unofficial proof that was true. So, what do we think that the first NX device is (If it is indeed 2 devices, which from the way he's talking I think it may be)? I am thinking that the handheld device is either coming out first, or it will be a bundle with the home console, this is because this developer had only previously worked on the Nintendo 3DS, and I think that they would stick with the handheld for familiarity's sake. That being said, I am thinking that it will be a double device system because of the way that he described "The way that the NX plays" it makes it seem like to me, it will be two separate devices, each with good processing power, that can be shared processing power, or processing power to be used while mobile gaming. So basically, you can use the handheld on the go, but then when you connect it to the home console, it becomes almost another set of processors for the console so that it can do more, and the double power, along with the dual screens, give you more gameplay possibilities.

Let's hear what you guys got from this!

Oohh, fresh rumours for the day. And what it says really sounds like a Fusion device. Specially the part of one device adding power to another.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Sweet GIF haha. And yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking. It seems very much as not just a couple of playable devices, but a couple of playable devices that can be tethered to each other for more power. I can't wait until they release official details and we find out just how wrong we are!

Interesting read and plausible.

Interesting. If true, this almost confirms a 2016 release.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

The thing about the colors is weird. Keyboards have more buttons than a controller will ever have, so it's weird that he said that the NX will have more colors thanks to the controls.

As for the tether thing for extra power, that literally makes no sense. The handheld won't have enough power to give the console a significant power boost, and boosting the handhelds power with the console is worthless when, by that point, you could just play the console the handheld is physically tethered to anyway.

If anything, they'd just stream the console to the handheld using the streaming technology they championed with the Wii U gamepad instead, so you can experience more power on your handheld without loosing portability.

Interesting and weird read. Don't know why, but I believe him.

And yet another sign of a 2016 release. I'm just puzzled about the color thing... can't imagine how this controller would feature more possibilities than a PC keyboard. o.o

Should be something unique as expected.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I get what you mean about it not being a "significant" power boost, but a power boost would be a power boost nonetheless. For example, the New Nintendo 3DS did not receive a significant power boost, but it can obviously play games more smoothly, and has a few games in development that require that processing power and cannot work with the 3DS or 3DS XL. So it's not about significant power boosts, it's about being able to add that other thing that you wouldn't have been able to add if that extra power wasn't there. It's about further enhancement and extra touches to games that may not be possible without the handheld's extra processing. I think the streaming thing will just be a standard feature as well, but the tether is the thing that will make it unique.

So basically the dev kits are out there but they can't comment any more about how the game will work differently until Nintendo officially announce the platform.
