The news drought coming from Nintendo forces us to speculate, so I'll make a new NX thread per day until we get some official news from them.

I think the NX will be backwards compatible, either by having physical BC or digital only BC like the XBone. However, there's the posibility that the NX won't play WiiU games, specially if we think about the handhels part of the system. If that were the case, I think Nintendo would remaster most of their WiiU titles. After all, some of them are very expensive titles, and they still have a ton of potential sales-wise.

In case of the NX not being BC,how many WiiU games will be remade for the NX? Which games would be remastered? I think at least six games would be remastered: Xenoblade X, Pikmin 3, both Bayoneta 1 and 2, The W101, Smash Bros U (instead of taking two or three years making a new smash, just have the old one updated with all the DLC) and DK Tropical Freeze.

What about Zelda U? I think they will run the same on both WiiU and NX, and both versions are being made at the same time, so it doesn't count as a remaster. Also, we have yet to see how the handheld part and the HC interact with each other before asking for Mario Maker.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I feel like we can assume Super Mario Maker is going to be a thing on any new Nintendo console moving forward...
And unless we see any drastic changes to the 2D Marion formula, I can't imagine we'll see many/any changes made in new installments...

Have a nice day...

I expect none games to be remastered, or maybe Zelda U, because despite the gamecube failure, Nintendo didn't tried to remastered a lot of games, just port a few and most of times it's trash port made for the wiimote (Mario Tennis for example).

Nintendo doesn't really port a lot of games from a gen to another. Now, I fully expect them to remake a lot of Wii/Gamecube games, like they should have done on Wii U...

What I expect the most is that they're gonna make a lot of sequels from Wii U games (Xenoblade X, Bayonetta, SMTxFE, Pokken, Pikmin, maybe even TW101 since they own the franchise), thanks to the backward compatibility the engine will be easily ported, upgraded and a sequel with the old assets would be easily done. At least, more easily than it was on Wii U.

I assume they'll launch Zelda on Wii U first and then later on they'll make a remaster. Otherwise just a straight up port a while after launch when the NX comes out.

I expect other remasters, like:
Xenoblade X
Pikmin 3
Hyrule Warriors

bet: lost

0-1 is my prediction.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Zero!

In case that console dont have BC they will simply port same of Wii U games to NX, simple ports not remasters.

Nintendo never remastered games from previous generation, people forgetting they didn't remaster no one Wii game for Wii U even some would be perfect for remaster.

Definitive ports and remasters I fully expect:
Zelda for Wii U (it would make a great launch title)
Smash Bros. 4 (easy money, slap on 4K support and have all the DLC in the game and boom you have a instant million seller with a limited investment)
Xenoblade Chronicles X (need to make back development costs)
Bayonetta 2 (ditto)
Pokken Tournament (a game releasing very late in the Wii U's life cycle, like Zelda U it's a prime candidate to help boost the launch, or launch window, line up)

Definitive ports and remasters I see a good chance of happening:
DK: Tropical Freeze (on the new portable system)
The Wonderful 101 (it would be nice for them to make some money back)

I thought about including Splatoon and Pikmin 3, but I expect Splatoon2 and Pikmin 4 to arrive within the first year of the NX's life. Though they still might get remasters later on during a drought.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.
