For those who haven't noticed, Konami has jammed in a new function with its new update.

It's an insurance service that helps protect your "hard earned" resources from invaders.

FOB Insurance

  • Your FOBs are always at risk of coming under attack. Now, you can rest easy with FOB insurance (paid service). If you sign up for insurance, then during the insurance period you will be compensated for any materials and staff lost due to rival infiltrations.
  • Staff/materials stolen by the rival will in fact remain on your base, and an identical amount of staff/materials will be handed over to the rival instead.
  • MB Coins are purchased with real money, but free MB Coins are also distributed periodically as login bonuses, etc.
  • The following are not covered by FOB insurance: Staff/items that are not fully your property, such as abducted staff being held in your Brig (FOB), Wounded staff (staff lost due to death or extraction will be compensated), Staff used by you to deploy in defense of the FOB (neither death nor extraction will be compensated), Nuclear weapons.

While mictrotransactions themselves have been a nuisance, this has reached a new low. This is basically them saying "You get invaded a lot while offline? You're in the red due to continuous invasions? Are you losing lots of resources? Then buy our MB coins with your money so you can get our insurance. Never lose resources again. But those S++ soldiers that got fultoned? You'll lose them forever!" By the looks of it, they don't care if we want to opt out of the FOB.

Haha, joke's on you, Konami. My FOB defense system is flawless.

Also, fuck you and your microtransaction thing. This would have been hella funny in-game, like Kaz telling us we should get insurance for our nuclear bomb or something, but no, thanks for giving me the choice to pay for an apparently broken system that incentives you to pay in the first place.

#FucKonami seems appropriate here.

I wish it could be used as a title...

But yeah... they're blatantly laughing at the faces of those who want to opt out of the FOBs. They're taking advantage of the chaos.

Konami pls

Yep ofcourse this is a priority konami, still waiting on the blueprint bug patch, so i can get my plat and delete this pos.

So it wasn't included in the patch?

I am sorry but if someone pays konami this they are stupid as hell.
FOB was created simply to suck money from microtransations, i dont even play that shit.

The problem is, from the very moment Ocelot forces you to create an FOB, and your console connects to the internet and send the info to Konami servers, you'll get royally screwed from time to time. You don't even need to play it in order to get invaded.

Heck, you don't even need PS+ to play this multiplayer part. They probably thought this in advance. The more players that can screw your base and materials, the better.

I checked the game this morning, and it hasn't fixed anything related to the glitched blueprints, which are the Stun Grenade and the Bull... something Shotgun. Hell, I don't believe it says something related to the fixes on the patch notes.

If there's one thing I absolutely hate about MGSV, it's the FOB system and how you can't effectively opt out of it. While I don't mind losing resources, I absolutely loathe losing staff and it makes me hate Konami. And don't get me wrong, I love the FOB idea itself. I just hate the losing stuff part where it affects single-player too.

They can murder my entire fucking staff for all I care. The Platinum is mine and i'm never heading back.

Gotta kill 'em all!
