Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who Benefited The Most From E3?

So Who Has Benefited The Most So Far?

Sony 73 76.04%

MS 18 18.75%

Nintendo 1 1.04%

F U! NONE! OUYA 4 LIFES! 4 4.17%

Total:96

While E3 has another day, the big guns have already had their conferences.  I decided to take a look at online retailers hourly/daily charts to see who has benenfited the most, in terms of HW and at least short term, from E3.

Amazon

PS4 - #18, #19, #55, #78

XBO - #27, #63

Wii U - Does not chart in the Top 100

Gamestop

PS4 - #37, #76

XBO - #21, #70

Wii U - Does not chart in the Top 100

Walmart

PS4 - #5, #6, #16,

XBO - #10, #25, #72, #75, #92

Wii U - #58

Target

PS4 -#8, #22, #88

XBO - #5, #73,

Wii U - #19

Best Buy

I can't really figure out how to get to Best Buy Top 100, and the page I had bookmarked with it no longer seems to work.  So, if anyone can help me there, I'll put it up.

Looking at the results, it seems that the PS4 has seen the largest effect.  It sees a significant rise at Amazon, and to a lesser extent at Walmart.  On Amazon, the PS4 is outselling the XBO by more than 2:1, possibly close to 3:1.  At Gamestop, the XBO seems to have a lead on the PS4, though most likely nothing near 2:1.  And while the two XBO SKUs at Target are above two of the PS4s, given the extra PS4 SKU at #22, I would imagine the PS4 is either tied with the XBO or slightly ahead.  And unfortunately, it seems Nintendo's Direct may not have helped things for the Wii U.  I may have even hurt them, since the Wii U was still in Amazon's Top 100 not too long ago, even in decent positions.

While some of these sites may not have updated too recently (I think the quickest to update are Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart), I think it's safe to say that the PS4 has benefited the most from the E3 conferences, XBO has definitely seen some improvement, and the Wii U may have actually been hurt by them.  Thoughts?

Wii U domination. :P

It does suck to see the Wii U drop so low on the charts.  On Amazon, it wasn't doing that bad, recently.  You think it's from other products moving up?  Or do you think the Direct hurt them?

definitely Sony

They got WAY more hardcore players with their holy trinity of revivals. I can't tell you how many people I know that had left GAMING period and yet are coming back because of FF7 remake. It was all over the facebook walls of people I didn't even know had played FF lol

They got the casuals with ACS deal, COD deal (big swing especially in America this holiday), kiddies with Disney Infinity deal, and the masses known as Star Wars fans (of which I'm a part) with Battlefront deal

They got the soft core with Horizon, Dreams, and Uncharted all looking great.

And that's just from their conference. Let's not forget they've been showing Ratchet, Hellblade, Mad Max (nother deal), Drawn to Death, and Until Dawn on the show floor.

I am Iron Man

Sony, for sure. The amount of views the FFVII Remake trailer has is insane!

Well, at least Wii U started charting, again, on Amazon. Currently at #96.

Sony.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Xbox has more benefitting features and game packages which will appeal to the mass market while Sony did show the better games, MS have a lot more coming out this year and they also have great games coming, maybe not as big as FF7 but great games none the less.

Not Vita! Sony finally convinced me that I should throw it in the garbage.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

this. Alot of people I went to school with back in high school (00-03) who were not hardcore then, and no longer game, but loved FF VII we hyped as much on Facebook as all of us gamers were.
