Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Iwata Talks Q&A

From Nintendo's third quarter financial results briefing, the Q&A can be fully read on:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/150217qa/index.html

I saw these come up in NintendoEverything, and they seemed interesting:

  • Amiibo [link]
  • Nintendo development divisions [link]
  • Mobile IP/Shipping [link]
  • Gaming population expansion [link]
  • Nintendo's marketing [link]
  • Value of gaming content [link]
Maybe there is more interesting stuff in the actual briefing provided by Nintendo. EDIT: All Q&As where posted on NE.

I'm surprised nobody has commented yet

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

"...we do not think that we can fully convey to consumers the full potential of amiibo yet."

At least they haven't reached their full potential, otherwise what's the point? So far, consumers' attention has been whisked away from amiibos' minimal functionality in favor of their rarity, toy element, and collector's value...

"However, beyond that, I believe that although the traditional practice of selling things and the belief that products will sell well if you advertise broadly and make attractive discount offers, worked five or ten years ago, it is no longer applicable in this present day."

Is he serious?

He's saying that market a piece of crap(Sonic Boom) all you want, it's still going to sell as a piece of crap.

Sure, AS a piece of crap, but if marketted enough, it'd sell better.

This reminds me, how many of you guys hear people talking about Splatoon IRL?

Got entertained yesterday with other stuff, but finally got around reading these today.
Still think it was an interesting read, just takes time to skim through it... Iwata likes to talk xD

I enjoyed the value of gaming content Q&A: content transition, digital rise and mobile pricing.
They just need to take care of the eShop sales!
