We're due for vgc to fix their method of approximating their xb1 numbers going forward. Overdue in fact considering the massive failure in accuracy. What will people do with no more broken numbers to pin their hopes on? :)

people are blowing out of proportion the inaccuracy of VGchartz.

Their numbers are respectable.

Constantly overtracking the X1 and undertracking the PS4 are hardly respectable. Overtracking the X1 in April by almost 100% is egregious.

You really need to get your head out of the sand and start facing the facts. Your console of preference is struggling and even in its strongest market, it is getting significantly outsold by its competitor.

11 % is not significant.

You have no evidence for the 11% difference. The fact that you have not presented evidence for that percentage after so long signifies that you're merely fabricating this number.

Xbox One being outsold in the US by 0.5 million (2.5 million vs 3 million), which is 20% of the X1's total sales. So yes, 20% is very significant considering that this is US-only. In Europe, it's being totally demolished, being outsold by a 4-to-1 ratio. If the X1 could not outsell the PS4 in March despite the Titanfall bundle selling for $449, what makes you think that the X1 will actually catch up? A $399 Kinect-less SKU is a total ripoff in comparison to the bundle. When subtracting the costs of the game and Kinect, the projected price of the standalone console is $289.

The following that Sony and Microsoft offer their products to are quite similar and Microsoft took from the Sony grew from the post SNES era gamers who mostly enjoyed multiplat gaming. They like exclusives but they love the variety that third party bring as well. The only reason the 360 enjoyed such a solid lead were because of four +things:

1) One year head start
2) blocking or getting timed exclusivity off third party exclusives from Sony in the first couple years.
3) Taking Japanese third party from Sony and putting them on their brand in the west as to avoid bias from Otaku (Japanese product prone people who like Manga, anime and japanese made games.).

4)Price

If Microsoft can offer a product that focuses mostly on third party, proper multimedia and os (like Sony) the consumer will primarily look at price. This is what made the 360 so great. They perfected all of the things Sony has been striving for themselves (except the hardware and actual game development ability).

Once this was accomplished the Kinect saved them from defeat.

MICROSOFT KNOWS THAT IF THEY LAUNCHED WITH SONY THAT THEY CANNOT WIN.

This is why they risked the integrity of the 360 and so many of their consoles failed. They didn't care about the product, they were so desperate to beat Sony that they laucnhed it anyway.

Sony impressed the US market by finishing strong with the PS3. They will carry Sony to victory no different than the rest of the world did last gen. Even if Sony sells ten million more in the us than Microsoft their fate is sealed for a victory.

I think RROD was also responsible. Microsoft didn't offer warranties to cover RROD repair costs until July 2007. They also admitted that over 11.6 million of the 360's sold in between launch to July 2007 were faulty. That's too large of a number to ignore.

Exactly. Thats one of the largest failure rates in the history of gaming. They had to beat Sony to the market because they didnt want to launch with Sony.  They knew that first impressions are everything and they won the first impression but killed it with a faulty product. I can't even begin to count the amount of people that I know that have gone through three to five xboxes. I am willing to bet that at least a quarter of Xbox sales before 2010 were attributed alone to former RROD victims who ran out of their warranty even after Microsoft initiated the three year warranty for people after 2007 . Not only that, but people paid once more to upgrade to the newer version of the slim through discounts from trading in their former Xbox fan. Nickel and diming coldnt even begin to cover it for how much they made people spend for the console alone.

Yep. Sales figures don't mean much if several people are rebuying the product. And here's an interesting tidbit. In 2011, Strategy Analytics revealed that by the end of 2010, the PS3 userbase might have surpassed the 360 userbase (43.4 million vs 42.9 million) (http://www.inquisitr.com/102342/ps3-overtakes-xbox-360/ ). This basically confirms that RROD really skewed the 360's sales figures and explains why we're seeing such a huge disparity in sales between the X1 and PS4.

I can refuse to accept your numbers simply from your lack of proper english, it's enough proof for me.

Also I wasn't present any proof, just a claim that NPD numbers are better

Oh, the irony....

Words escape me...

Please enlighten me, oh wise one.

Lul, you should've been an english major instead.

Why did you even think a Masters in Computer Science would qualify you talk about sales, you do realize that makes no sense.

Stat, Econ, or Math major would give you better authority, but I guess thats what happens when you don't research before you lie.

Also a bad idea to use terrible syntax, broken logic, and appear to be in an infinite loop if you claim to have a Masters in Computer Science.

Looks like adjustments for US numbers for last 6 weeks or so have been made.

The link didnt work, but I ageee. I do remember reading that analysts believed the PS3 would outsell the 360 by 2011 though based on the way the PS3 was intially selling. Microsoft can thank their lucky stars for those broken consoles and people who repurchased Xboxes when the look changed.

Wow I didn't realize the US gap was that small. lol @ outselling it WW though. Not happening any time soon.

I see people talking about retailers currently selling the Xbone for $330 in this thread too... where is this?

Target and every major retailer so far that significantly dropped the price of the titans fell bundles. It's not hard to understand. You subtract the cost of the game and the year of XBL gold and the console sits at a whopping $330. That is it's current market value according to target. Yes that is how economics works before you begin to protest otherwise with unfounded claims. Even places like Newegg are taking part.

lol I was exactly right in the other thread, you're taking old sales from a couple retailers (one online only) and extrapolating that out to say "all major retailers" and even subtracting bundle components given free. Hilarious. Thanks for the big laugh, and no, thats not how economics work.

At least there are a couple guys still keeping up that "MS sold most of their consoles to RROD people" conspiracy theory in the thread, so it wasnt the silliest thing posted here yet.
