1) It justifies the existence of Metacritic.

2) Ninja Gaiden 3 seems amazing in comparison.

3) Its only 3 hours.

 

So I rented Yaiba from Gamefly. They sent it out before i saw the metascore.

Its not unplayable, its just incredibly mediocre and shouldn't exist as is. I will admit I kinda like the presentation and its given me a few laugh thus far.

According to a playthough on YouTube and comments I'm seeing on forums, this game is only 3 hours. So I'll make an effort to play through it... hopefully I'll find some redeeming quality in there.

Not so sure, after all Infamous SS has continuosly been praised as better than the 1st 2 and then this (also most games I love have terrible metas)

I'm sorry, you liking those games doesn't mean they are great and surely not the best.

I enjoyed some games with low metascores as well. Ninja Blade and Deadly Premonition come to mind. I really wouldn't recommend them though.

Well... you did flat out say DW is the best game on PS3. That's a bold claim.

 

In a nutshell, metacritic keeps us away from the niche stuff you enjoy. That makes it a great service.

Not true. Look at Zelda and the 3D Mario's before 3D World. They all have really high critic scores.
