When people talk about mobile gaming, why does everybody keep talking about phones? I think mobile games (especially high graphic games) are best at tablets.

Most people use their phones for these types of games because smart phones are very affordable these days. Hell, even my mom, whom the last game she played was Tetris in the 90s, told me about how she played Angry Birds on her tesco phone. As opposed to tablets which are usually more expensive and not as portable.

It's just the accepted language due to the majority.

deflection.. the industry takes mobile gaming on tablets and smartphones much more serious then these so called "hardcore" gamers.. so they try to downplay it whenever they can.. it already impacted handheld consoles and tablets will affect home consoles... but lets stick our heads in the sand for now!

They're powered by the same platforms, but there are pretty significant differences in how tablets and phones are used. Tablets tend to stay at home more and they're more compatible with PC game design than phones are.

And yeah, that makes mobile gaming more dangerous, not less. Tablets are not only putting pressure on PCs, some analysts think they're putting pressure on TV purchases. And I shouldn't have to tell you what that means for home consoles.

I always juxtapose phones and tablets, phones are more common but tablets are growing a lot faster. They belong in the same segment, people who downplay the importance of tablets know very little about the market factors.
Not to mention that tablets have larger screens and slightly better hardware, making the more suited for gaming.
That said, I'm not a fan of mobile gaming, not even close.

Woah! That sounds almost a bit like regular games, especially the bit about microtransactions. Mobile games are the retarded cousin of shitty console games.

Uhm, well, I'd say that the Wii had its fair share of stinkers that more than likely spawned quite few even more dreadful mobile games. Curse of the market leader and all that.

Besides, it's not likely everything non-Nintendo is worthless and without good gameplay (allthough I realize that this is the most common faux perception).
