So, I just platinumed The Last of Us and the game is absolutely brilliant. I'm a huge trophy collector at heart (28 plats so far and will probably get about a dozen or so more). My philosophy is if I don't collect the trophies I will just be throwing money at another game once I beat the one I'm playing. This doesn't stop me from buying new games I am very interested in (I bought TLoU first day even though I have about a half dozen games I'm working one and some unopened) but it definitly slows my purchasing. Now, it also doesn't mean that I'm going to platinum every game I buy. I'm not going to force myself to play a game I couldn't stand or the difficulty is just absurd. For example, Space Marines (bought it on clearence at Target for less than 10 dollars) and Warhawk (I loved it and got 59% but it got stale and the grinding... oh the grinding....).
Now on to my pet peeve.... I AM NOT A MULTIPLAYER PERSON! I just went through TLoU multiplayer and I must say it's probably the most enjoyable out of all the games I've played online but I'm not going to subscribe to PS+ for it and this creates an issue for me. Which is, how do I collect online trophies if I don't pay for online? I had a thing going that worked well for me. I had the right balance of spending and playing. I don't think I'll spend more in the next gen but I will probablly play a lot less.
So I was thinking (while I was in the shower which is what led to creating this thread) that a simple solution for gamers like me is to have an "online pass" which only grants me access to that game I bought new and only for a limited time. Like a trial period for each game and if I want to access multiplayer for any game at any time then buy a subscription. Sony would never do this though.
