I downloaded Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate recently. Since I also bought Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion I wanted to register the games for the "So many games" promotion. I bought FE and LM retail, so I had no problems to register them. I found no way to register MH3U, so I did some research. As it turns out you have to link your 3DS eshop with your ClubNintendo account, which I ofcourse hadn't done yet. But even after linking the accounts MH3U didn't show up.

The answer from the support: There is no way to register downloaded games retroactively, not even for the Nintendo Support.

Honestly Nintendo...fuck you.

Your fault. It's common sense, really. Digital games are bound to the console, so it makes sense to in turn bind the 3DS to your account first.

Also, if you registered your 3DS only now you could've gotten Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate way cheaper due to the other promotion.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I've been linking all my Nintendo systems to my Club Nintendo account since 2009 for all the coins you get to trade in for free games from Virtual Console just for registering games and taking 2 minute surveys.

Yeah, so unreasonable of me to expect Nintendo will be able to register my downloaded games based on my purchase history after I linked my eshop with my Club Nintendo account.

I don't think it works that way. I don't think Nintendo reps can see what's on your 3DS. I would guess that the 3DS sends data to the linked account and if there is none, no data will be sent. If they make the 3DS send data like this retroactively upon linking, one could change the account multiple times and register the game on different accounts. Of course, there are also solutions to this but we are talking about Nintendo here, I would always check if everything is in order beforehand. Complex online infrastructure just isn't their forte.

Oh well, my friend still has the retail code for MH3U and no interest in any of the other 7 games. I'll just use his.

You make... 4 posts per year?

you can transfer licenses on a x360. you have to redownload the games once you make the switch but you can keep everything.

sucks when that happens. nintendo needs to get it together.

lol, you should check out Australia's current deal. buy a 3DS and get a free digital copy of 1 of X amount of games (all great games). DOES NOT APPLY TO 3DSXL. WHAT THE FUCK BULLSHIT IS THIS GWAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH. they lost my sale now, its a lose-lose situation =(

Oh right you had problems, ummmm lets see. That sucks man, to get revenge on Nintendo get rid of your 3DS and games... by giving them to me =)
