Here is a comparison between the current and next generation consoles, including PS3 Fat and Slim models, Xbox 360 Fat and Slim models, PS4 and Xbox One. The PS4 turns out to be on the smaller side of the 6 different console models, while Xbox One seems to be the tallest.

Link works fine and this is merely confirms what everyone has been saying, the Xbone is HUGE and the PS4 is surprisingly small. It would be interesting to see where the superslim PS3 would go in there too

But the key for me is that my PS4 can simply fit in the place of PS3 slim

PS4 is already small, i wonder what PS4 slim will be like although that is ages away. It's already smaller and lighter than PS3 slim

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

Just make sure there is "room for breathing" at the back. The PSU is along the bottom back. the pcb is above it, and the hot air is blown out between the two. Placing the PS4 in a closed rack, for example, is a guaranteed death spell.

Good point, I have generally been very careful about leaving my consoles out in the open (my fat PS3 is still almost dead) but when we moved the house had a huge AV rack with a slim PS3 in it, so we have been using that. I think it is open at the back, but I will certainly check no before making any swap. I guess I could just leave it out on display!
