Nintendo Says Animal Crossing Boosted US Nintendo 3DS Sales By 4x

Nintendo has told investors today that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has boosted sales of the Nintendo 3DS in the United States by at least 4x versus the previous week. Animal Crossing: New Leaf has also set a digital sales record in the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The adorable game launched Sunday, June 9th in the United States.

He's an analyst that's at Nintendo's closed press conference.

Mr. Iwata also mentioned that he expected high sales for this game with the release in North America. Nintendo also encouraged people to purchase the game on the eShop. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true.

4x? Wouldn't surprise me. But will VGC numbers reflect this?

In the thread titled "Iwata Responds to Nintendo as 3rd Party..." is where I got the info from Iwata expecting a lot for Animal Crossing. And Nintendo of America's own Twitter account is where I read that they encourage people to buy the game off the eShop.

Sadly, VGC won't reflect any of this. (Unless there is a decision to increase the weekly sales so as to stay on track with the eShop.)
