Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when they have to log onto Ea servers before playing a game?

I'm playing a single player game (Kingdoms of Alamur) that has no reason whatsoever to go online, but yet every time, it tries to sign in.

I know there's nothing sinister (probably) going on, but it still makes me whince every time I see it.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Kind of the same for me (thinking why the hell?) when I got GTA 4 on Steam. They wanted me to make a Live account for achievements. I couldn't even play the damn game till I got myself a free Live account. I don't understand why I need a Live account to play a Rockstar game on the PC. There should be an opt out of achievements options so you don't have to go through the bullshit of registering for an account that you don't want.
