Kind of the same for me (thinking why the hell?) when I got GTA 4 on Steam. They wanted me to make a Live account for achievements. I couldn't even play the damn game till I got myself a free Live account. I don't understand why I need a Live account to play a Rockstar game on the PC. There should be an opt out of achievements options so you don't have to go through the bullshit of registering for an account that you don't want.
