Forums - Gaming Discussion - If Crash bandicoot 4 was made would you buy it?

Tagged games:

I was thinking about this game series the other day and how it died a horrible death when it was sold from Naughty Dog and that this was such a shame as the games in their day were excellent (and this shows with the sales being in the 5 million range).

If (by some miracle) Naughty Dog managed to get back the licence to this series and made another numbered game - Crash Bandicoot 4 - would this sell well?

I know that i would buy the game since i was a great fan of the previous ones but this may just be nostalgia!

Made by who? Naughty Dog?

I'd imagine the best way to revive the Crash Bandicoot series these days would be to make budget-price downloadable titles. Make them as a homage to the original 3 Crash Bandicoot games with HD graphics. A lot like Retro did with Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I don't think Crash would actually do very well in the 3D space. In my opinion, it was never really a 3D game in the sense that Mario 64 or Spyro were, you were always confined into either running up the screen or running across it, with a little leeway either side.

So making the game as a tribute to the first 3 would be a better option.

edit: And yes, I think it would sell well if Sony got their hands on it again.  The Crash games always seem to be the most downloaded PS1 classics every month.

Yes in a heartbeat.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Crash Bandicoot 4 already exists; it's called The Wrath of Cortex, released 2001 on PS2, GC and XBox. Have it on GC. Wasn't as good as the older ones, not bad either, but still quite enjoyable.

But okay, a real Crash Bandicoot 5 made by Naughty Dog again I might be interested in.

Wrath of Cortex was still pretty great. I enjoyed it, it still feels like Crash from the PS. They really need to go back to the old formula. Todays Crash is horrid.

Id buy a new, real Crash Bandicoot day 1. I still have faith that one day, this could happen.

One day...

I liked what I played of Wrath of Cortex on GC, so I'd buy a new one if it came to a Nintendo platform, seeing as they're the only consoles I buy nowadays.

I never played Wrath of Cortex actually... might have to hunt that one down!

I meant a proper numbered Crash game again as the first 3 all were numbered but this was lost past 3.

My personal favorite was Crash 2 as loved collecting all the crystals and the gems (Cortex got really pissed when you got those lol)

Highly unlikely I'd buy it. Been there and done that. I don't think it would sell anywhere near as well in the current market.

If it was as high-quality for this time as they were for their time, certainly. The only reason platformers have diminished is that developers have largely stopped making them, or believe them to be only worthy of digital download.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
