Crysis 3 was prematurely revealed on the official Origin website today and EA couldn't play dumb on this one.

The publisher has been forced to acknowledge the unannounced title, teasing more info next week.
"Yeah, what can we say other than that the best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained," a Crytek rep told CVG following today's leaks. "We will share more information next Monday, April 16."

The first Crysis 3 details also appeared earlier via a Russian website, which claims the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC threequel will release in spring 2013, and takes place in a heavily destroyed New York which has become "almost a jungle", thus combining the settings of the first and second games.

Bought 2 for the campaign. Ended up being mediocre. The MP was absolutely abysmal. The mediocrity didn't exactly stem from the linearity of the campaign, I've played through far better linear FPS games, but I welcome a city sandbox if the rumours are true.

Electronic Arts is ready to release the first information on Crysis 3,the third installment of the FPS developed by Crytek.

The famous CryENGINE 3, at its verisone 3.4 with its development libraries, will be the engine of this game button.

Crysis 3 is set for release in spring 2013 on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. 

What's with the rumored spring '13 release? I find that hard to believe... you'd think they'd want to hold it back a bit longer and instead have it ready for the launch of the next-gen consoles in late '13 / early '14.

I can't see how they can improve on Crysis 2's visuals much between now and then while keeping the game on current gen consoles, and this is a franchise and company that is known for pushing cutting-edge graphics. Crysis 3 as a launch title for 720 / PS4 would make the game an instant killer-app just for its visuals alone.
