With Season Two just around the corner, we thought that it was about time to share some exciting news regarding how large you’ve made the League of Legends community.

Since our last announcement just four months ago, you’ve helped the League of Legends community more than double in size, reaching a staggering 32 million registered players. Moreover, at any given time there are as many as 1.3 million summoners all playing League of Legends at the same time. We know you’ve asked us to share more, so we put together some other interesting statistics about League of Legends for you.

It's an online MMORPG, right? Is it free

It's not really an MMO, it's a MOBA/DOTA like. more like an arena/Team deathmatch mini RTS with RPG mechanics. And yes it's free to play

lol DOTA, my little brother is totally nuts about that game, even taught a bunch of his friends how to play

I remember watching a video that had some lol tournament running in it (Bluexephos I believe) and all of the players were asian ;_;, must be really big over there, like most free internet games.

It's insane how huge this game is, I'm not really the biggest fan of it, prefer Heroes of Newerth but still can't deny how impressive this is

My nephew and his friends play it whole the time even have his own lan party that has surpassed the number of 50 attendees.

I love LoL. I've been playing since Ezreal (see avatar). Something about it is just awesome and addictive. It's not hard to get started if you're new but it takes a while to get use to it, especially with all the champions out now. Also, the community can be real assholes are higher ranked matches, but you learn to deal with it.

I think the best thing about it is that you really do no need money to play it. It makes leveling, earning champions and other stuff easier but you don't really have to spend a single cent to become good and go up against the high ranked players. They don't sell power, basically.

It has grown a ton since I first started playing. It's quickly a phenomenon and the tourney have insane amounts of money, as shown in the picture, the next prize pool is $5 mil. I recommend it to online player who wanna try something new and for DOTA players, it's a simpler version of DOTA but it is better in the sense that it is so much more accessible, balanced and can still be very strategic when faced with strong opponents.
