PS3 undertracked again here, by more then 100k, why doesn't this surprise me? Just look at the pathetic numbers VGChartz put for PS3 the past few weeks, no way the PS3 would sell only 1/2 of what 360 was selling.

When does the quarterly results come from the Big 3?

How very balanced of you.... then again looking at your predictions its no surprise.

But isnt it true? After GeoW3 released Vgchartz acted as if it was such a big system seller, obviously it wasn't. People who wanted GeoW3 already played GeoW1+2 on their 360s. Look at this week and last week, PS3 is doing around 1/2 what 360 is doing in America here in VGChartz...  Looking at NPD numbers its amusing. PS3 should do atleast 20/25k per week more in Americas on VGchartz.

About my predictions, I'm not specalized in system hardware software sales, I made those predictions first when I signed here, I'm sure I'll be able to do better predictions in the future. The signature will stay as it is till january so I can get a better view.

I can't wait to hear the latest excuses from Iwata when Nintendo reports earnings on October 27th...........

I think he will say this:

1) in July 2011 we sold 114,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS in the United states.

2) In August 2011 after the price cut we sold 235,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS for a 106% increase over the last month making the Nintendo 3DS the second best selling game system in the month of august.

3) In September 2011 we sold 260,000 Nintendo 3DS units for a 10.6% increase over the last month what represents the second month of continuous grow of the Nintendo 3DS.

then I think he will turn to the investors and say:

''Can someone in the audience tell me how can we sell a lot of units of a Nintendo portable that does not have a Mario game or pokemon game? because last time I checked nobody buys a console to see the box, people buy consoles to play games, good games. If someone in the audience can answer this question I will give that person my Job.  For that reason we are going to launch Super Pokemon Rumble in October, Super Mario 3d Land in November  and Mario Kart 7 in December exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.''

so i heard the ps3 price cut was ineffective a few weeks ago? ALWAYS wait for official numbers. wait for fiscal numbers cause theres probably even bigger adjustments needed for european territories. so ps3 has been number 1 all this time. vgchartz have trouble tracking after price cuts.

If this trend continues there's no chance at all for the 360 to be #1 WW for 2011. So either they have a massive price drop planned or they are just wrong.

even if they did cut the price now, will it really be enough? i think microsoft are just wrong here or maybe at end they will tell us they were talking about america only.

Microsoft

May 2011

Last week at E3, Xbox unveiled a new lineup of blockbuster games and entertainment experiences coming for Xbox 360. This will propel Xbox 360 to be number one worldwide by the end of the year, out-selling PlayStation 3 and Wii.

June 2011

With the holiday season and major launches just around the corner, the second half of 2011 promises to make Xbox 360 history. We expect Xbox 360 to maintain its lead and to be number one worldwide by the end of the year, selling more hardware units than PlayStation and Wii

July 2011

...With “Gears of War 3” launching next month and more major launches to follow during the holiday, we expect Xbox 360 to maintain its lead throughout the year, ending 2011 as the number one console worldwide.

August 2011

With a massive portfolio of new blockbuster and Kinect titles coming this holiday as well as new partnerships like Disney and UFC, Xbox 360 is well-positioned for continued success we continue to expect this to be the biggest year in Xbox history, and the distinction of being this year’s best-selling console worldwide.

September 2011

Xbox 360 maintains its lead over the current-generation console market, poised to finish 2011 as the best-selling console...

I am still confident that MS will cut price, I just have a feeling they are waiting until November to tie it in with their 10th anniversary of Halo or Black Friday or something. I imagine they are ramping up supply right now to ensure they have plenty come the holidays and whenever they make their moves. They just can't be serious about being #1 this year without some sort of super big news/price cut/bundling/major marketing push.

I believe in the past once they started pushing the larger HDD's in limited editions and standalone's, it wasn't much longer until the SKU's were updated to all have larger HDD's. All the constant gift card deals and whatnot make me think retailers are clearing out old stock and banking up on new models/SKU's/etc for the holidays. Guess we will have to wait and see!

I really wonder how vcg reacts to these numbers. I mean they basically ignored the 360 npd numbers these past few months so I assume they think their tracking is more accurate(maybe it is who knows), so does that mean the ps3 and 3ds won't get adjusted? or meet the npd halfway? or they only ignore xbox 360 npd numbers?

I think VGC have stealth adjusted 360 a bit, long after the reports. Could be wrong though.

oh i remember,June's VGC 360 numbers is about 300k and NPD is 500k,did they adjusted?

I'll check the sales right now

Edit: June sales almost exactly 400k in Americas for June, so about 350k in USA. While NPD had it at 507k o.O

But to be fair, NPD YTD 360 sales are about 3.45m while VGC has it at 3.3m approximately. That's still within 10%

so VGC don't need to adjust anymore, just need to put more undertracked hardware numbers in next few weeks to make it within 10% YTD

Well, this month was not within 10%. So I guess that's theirs to decide

Actually, VGC is within 10% for the 360.  10% of 438K is 43.8K.  So as long as VGC has it 395K-481K (they had 411K), that would be within tolerence.  The PS3 on the other hand, would need to be 337K-411K.  VGC has it at 268K.

Yeah, I meant only the PS3 ;)

ah,so you use PS3 in one month and 360 in YTD

another VGC's normal day

What? I could use this month for 360 too if you want...within 10%, PS3 is not. This is about NPD September

so am i the only one not just talking about NPD September?

Currently, yes. This is what I meant originally: "Well, this month [PS3] was not within 10%. So I guess that's theirs to decide"

are you lost your memory?
