wow thats a bit much.

I want one.

What, the Famicom Disk System? Anyone who had Smash Bros Melee and read through all the trophies descriptions should have been aware that something like that existed, and those who have known of Nintendo's efforts in Japan in the NES era would certainly be aware of it

It was actually a neat setup, since it was really primarily designed as a game rental system first and foremost, rather than owning the reformattable disks.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I knew most of this, but was surprised to find out that Metroid and Zelda first appeared on the disk system and were only later converted back to cartridges for the western audience.

Also, I wish I could have been there at the peak of the Disk System when you could walk into a store and load any game onto your disk like that. There's just something really cool about that feature.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

I remember reading about this a while ago, it wasn't in as much detail as this though

N-Sider is probably one of the best Nintendo websites. Their feature on Retro Studios, while dated, is very detailed.

I've known about the Famicom Disk System for years. However, recently, I had a chance to buy one of the games for it at Game Over. It was Metroid. I was SOOOoooo close to letting myself buy it but I chose Final Fantasy V instead because...well. I could at least play Final Fantasy V, sort of. Japanese ain't easy.
