haha you actually expect nintendo diehard fans to agree with you on this?mario is never milked for them

No i was already expecting this thread to recieve more no's then yes's since Mario is Nintendo biggest franchise. I just think that releasing 6-7 Mario games in 1 year is a little overkill which is why a mad this thread.  :)

Should I show you what a hypocrite you are by listing 'milked'  Sony and MS IPs that their fans love? Or are you already aware of your hypocrisy?

go ahead. the only series i really love that would fit the milked category is FF.

How is Final Fantasy Milked?!?! Last time i checked SE does not release 3-4 FF games in one year.  :)

i don't think is milked either. it was in response to play4fun.

no, mostly because the games he's in are very different sub-series while the mainline games are few and far between.

No, he's still too fat, so he has to go on.
But a good tip for the OP and other who feel like him: You don't have to buy/play all his games. *wink wink*
Just don't touch he games you're not interested in and you should be fine.

Hypocrites like you, praise games that get alot of releases  by your favorite company and then turn  around and say another console's games are milked.

Sony has made Uncharted afer Uncharted this generation and there's nothing wrong with that since the games remain high quality, but you seem to be looking forward to PSV's Uncharted nonetheless. PS3 has alot of sequels in its library and line-up.

MS has alot of halo games and....well...MS doesn't have much of a 1st party...so...

Anyways, people who bitch about games being milked only do it when it's a game they don't really care for. They have no problem if it's one of their favorite franchise.

When a game is popular and has a fanbase, devs will continue to make that game. It's how it's done, so maybe people like you should stop bitching.

Only for people who think Mario Party, Sports, and Kart are Mario games. Party is a party gaming with Mario Content. Kart is a racing game with Mario content. At this point Mario Kart could be turned into Super Smash Racing, and no one would care. As long as it has the same gameplay.

A Mario game is a game that adds to the lore of the characters universe. 3D Mario has added the least amount of content while 2D Mario has added the most. At this point Paper Mario/Mario Luigi should be consider a main Mario game.

I remember comparisons that Final Fantasy has had more releases than Mario this generation and the former games in most cases fall into the RPG category while Mario spans a much broader range of genres.

I think there have been around 40 Final Fantasy games this generation, so on average more than three to four per year.

I dont think SE has even released 20 FF games this gen. Not unless your including the PSN classics and remakes.  :)

Mario should have taken a break about 20 years ago. Mario shouldn't have been used for SMB2, Kart or the 3D games. All of them could have stood on their own as new IPs.

How exactly would this have made the games any different?

What makes a game a 'new' IP? The characters? Or the gameplay?

If someone makes a game that is similar to another IP and sticks a new character(s) in it, I don't think it really constitutes as a new IP.

It's just a reskin of another game.

Mario should only have been used for SMB1, 3, World and NSMBWii. Replace Mario with Bowser in SMB2, replace him with Luigi for 3D and I dunno about Kart, maybe keep him. They shouldn't have put him on the handhelds, it's degrading. I wouldn't have taken him in such a cartoony direction either. SMB1 wasn't a nice happy mushroom kingdom. It was menacing. Koopas looked evil, spinys were scary, nowadays they dance.

Nah, I don't really mind. It's just annoying when someone says 'oh another Mario game' when he actually spans and reigns over nearly every genre. It's like how people refer to the 'Wii Series' as though they're all the same because they have Wii in the title and use Miis. One's a sports game, one's fitness, one's classic arcade games, one's designed specifically as a party game, one's supposed to be a music game.

Are you serious? Saying "there are too many Mario games" is ridiculous. Sure, they've all got the same plumber, but most Mario games are pretty darned different. Ideally, the IP or brand name attached shouldn't make a difference to anything and it should be the content of a game. (Of course, I don't personally follow this in the least so I suppose I shouldn't expect anyone else to.) The reason you should get tired of a brand like Mario and think it needs a break should be because the experience is becoming overused and stale. If you're trying to have any sort of objectivity in your argument, it'll be pretty clear that that's not the case with the entirety of the Mario as most gameplay styles are only used a handful of times a generation (2D/3D/Racing/etc.). Therefore, I'd have to conclude that, unless the brand name attached to a game matters more to you than gameplay and the like, you have no reason to think that Mario needs a break.
