MK is releasing in April, while MvC3 is releasing in February. Even with a 2 month head start, I'd say MK will sell more this year. And Lifetime too.

The previous version of MK sold -

This was the T rated abomination of a MK game....Suffered severe fan backlash. The new one has had a tremendous showing at E3, PAX and Gamescom, so the buzz around is much bigger, and since its a reboot going back to the classic 2D fighting plane and doesn't have crappy most UMK3 characters, its obviously gonna sell more. 

So I'd say it has a shot at 3 million (both versions combined) this year alone ! (Hope that prediction doesn't come back to bite me in the ass). It has a shot at 4 million Lifetime.

I assure you Hephaestos, this game will not "flop hard"

As for MvC3, we only have this to go by -

Only JP sales...so its gonna be hard to predict what it'll sell in the West.

I imagine it would sell at most 200k in JP for both versions by the end of the year. Lets look at Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV sales to get an idea about MvC3.

I don't think MvC3 would reach SFIV sales. Think it would do better than SSFIV though. Even SF isn't as big as it used to be.

Well, MK isn't either, but the series is still strong enough to hold its own in America.

When its all said and done, I'd say it might get to 1.75 million both versions combined by the end of the year, with 2.5 million lifetime sales for MvC3.

Also, I'm putting it out there - my first VGC bet -

"MK 2011 will sell more than MvC3 this year". Any takers ?

MvC3 probably. Despite MK going back to the 2D style that was probably needed, its brand name isn't what it used to be

Mortal Kombat will win, IMO.

I think MK will be the winner here, expecting good things about it.

Mortal Kombat is mainstream game with a lot of nostalgic appeal for old fans MvsC 3 is for fighter game maniacssince typical person haven't even heard about that game.

I only found out MvsC exists when looking for information about arcade sticks for SF4 on shoryuken.

Imho MK will outsell MvsC 2 to 4 times.

MK vs DC Universe sold well for how bad it ruined MK's image of being over the top and gruesome....but it will sold around 2.5 million. Even though MK isn't as strong as it used to be, this new game will have better sales imo.

115k pre-orders with 6 weeks to go.

 30k (PS3 only) with atleast 12 weeks to go. Probably around 50k for PS360.

I'm going with Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Mortal Kombat.. its probably the most well known fighting game in existents.. 

gotta say MvsC3 its going to be close though. Japan does not really care for the MK at all, so it will probably flop hard over there, but the Americas at least will make up for it. SF and the VS. series seems to be popular worldwide so id have to go with them. I also heard that Capcom made a killing with the PSN/LIVE release of Mvs.C2, I wonder how long it will be b4 someone complains about neither game being on Wii :) I kid, I kid
