Forums - General - is anyone here Insomniac ?

I am , and i wonder if anyone (who is insomniac) have some type of way to sleep or relax, i want to know if there anyway to speed up my sleeping time because i can lay down on bed for about 4-6 hours doing nothing, before i finally get a little sleepy, i sometimes just don't sleep at all , so i won't skip work or so, i don't mind not sleeping but my body can't stand being awake too much and i start to feel very fragile (like if someone just pokes me, it would hurt)

i tried taking sleeping pills , but those don't do anything for me except make my body numb while being fully awake, though they DO help with my Sun elergy (continue reading)

having played Heavy Rain , Madison Paige has an Insomnia and she can only sleep in motels (lolwut?) , i wish i knew something that would make me sleep better like that , but sadly i don't, also with all this being done over and over , i've gotten a lot more fragile than what i used to 5 years ago, now i am elergic to direct sunlight =[, its not fatal though as i can stay in the sunlight for sometime till it get itchy and my skin burn , though its only for DIRECT sunlight so its okay if i am under a shade or something like that, but thats another thing, lol i went offtopic

Yes, right now i can't sleep even though i HAVE to "Wake up" 2 hours later...

i had that for a week or two, then realized that it is just because of stress or excitement. Just try to relax, see a doctor, all that good stuff

Play Ratchet and Clank.  I hear it helps

I am an Insomiac.  Have been for about 15 years now.  When I know I have to sleep before something important, I pull an all nighter the day before and keep myself awake until the following evening.  Go to sleep 10 hours before you must be up (just incase) and I end up sleeping and feel great on those very important days that I have to sleep.

If you cannot do this, there is a type of medication that I would recommend.  It is not a sleeping pill (no Ambien or Benedryl), what it does is help calm the mind.  It basically will make your mind wind down (so you stop thinking) allowing you to sleep.   Im away for the weekend, but when Im back home Ill give you the name if you want.

smoke some marijuana. or get prescripton  sleeping pills, they seem to work different and better than over the counter

Try sleeping in someone else's bed when they aren't using it. Helps if you know them well.

I can't sleep at night. So I will sleep in the chair in the living room or on my sister's bed during the day because I can't fall asleep in my own bed.

Insomnia is often caused by some sort of change in your life. Did something happen after high school? Any truma, new stressful job, staying away from home for an extended period of time etc.?

If you haven't already, try talking to someone about it (be it friends, family or a psychiatrist).

A tip that helps me sleep is, if I'm in my bed trying to sleep and I havn't dozed off in an hour, then I get out of bed and do something else for 15 - 30 min and then go to bed again. It usually helps me anyway. Just laying awake in your bed for hours isn't a good idea I think.

That said, it's not that often I can't sleep myself (a few times a month maybe), so it might not be the same.
